Freshman Showcase – Team 2 Player Evaluations

The Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase was an exciting collection of young talent. We're going to take a closer look at the players from Team 2 at the event. He was a solid shooter that hit 3's off the catch and had a silky smooth baseline mid range jumper. Kevin also showed an impressive speed burst with the ball in his hands. He was a willing passer that moved the ball and found teammates in scoring positions.     Crosby definitely caught some eyes at the Freshman Showcase. He was a quick guard that could get his man off balance and attack. Crosby has the ability to use that quickness on the defensive end as well. He's fast down the floor, which made him a factor in transition.     Suardini was outstanding on Saturday. His game is just well developed and mature, showing a high basketball IQ. He did a tremendous job controlling the pace and making himself comfortable with the flow of the game. Suardini, even in a showcase event, was ready and willing to swing the ball for good looks at the rim. He had a pretty pull up mid range jumper that he put off the glass.     Thulman proved to be an exciting guard prospect that could make some real noise in the coming years. He had sone ball skills that helped him attack with a powerful straight line drive. Thalman was able to power dribble through traffic. He pushed the pace with the pass and hustled down the floor as the trailer. Thalman was rewarded with a layup on the offensive end/     Marquez showed a lot of talent and upside in Grand Rapids. He was relentless on the board. Marquez was bouncy around the rim and he was willing to put in work early to position himself for the rebound. I counted at least 2 put back buckets and a third that he was fouled on. Marquez was also fast down the floor and was a willing passer.     Aguillon was impressive at the Freshman Showcase. He played hard and brought a ton of energy. Everything was a sprint and he was not going to get beat down the floor or miss a chance to get out in transition. Aguillon is a physically strong guard that didn't hesitate to body his opponent when playing D.     Lambers turned a lot of heads in Grand Rapids. He showed that he could score from all over the floor. I saw Lambers hit a pull up wing triple, then later bury a DEEP wing 3. He also connected on a pretty baseline mid range jumper. Lambers had a knack for finding space around the rim and was able to turn that into a bucket. He was engaged on defense as well, talking and letting his teammates know where he was going.     Crosby showed some real skill at the Freshman Showcase. He was a quick guard that really utilized his foot speed on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. Crosby stayed in front of his man and picked up a steal by staying a step ahead of the ball handler.
