Lambers first grabbed my attention with his activity and play around the rim. He had a pretty baseline drive where he hit 2 feet, pivoted, and scored at the rim. Lambers also scored off a put back and rebounded high on the defensive end. I really liked his work with the ball off a screen. He read the action off the screen well and connected with a screener on the roll for an assist.

Aj is my personal MVP of the Sophomore ID Camp, but not for a reason you may think. Yes, the kid has a knack for scoring, especially getting to and finishing at the rim. As of today, his mid-range is very advanced as well. Being a #MakeShots Member, his jumper will only continue to improve. His anticipation and hands make him a pest on defense. However, I was most impressed by Lambers’ in-game communication. Whether it be giving feedback to teammates, encouraging others after hitting a shot, or taking accountability for mistakes that weren’t his, Aj is mature beyond his years with his overall approach to the game.

The Muskegon guard has proven that he’s more than varsity ready as a freshman and is a must see talent in the class. He plays on a team with multiple elite or top notch perimeter talents and he STILL makes his presence felt. He’s looks really good shooting off the catch. Lambers is a willing passer and defender as well.

There might be a book of reviews about Lambers by the time it’s all said and done. This is a young man that seems to understand and enjoy the work involved in being great. Lambers is an athletic shooter that sees and gets to space. He’s a playmaker and finisher at the rim.

Lambers turned a lot of heads in Grand Rapids. He showed that he could score from all over the floor. I saw Lambers hit a pull up wing triple, then later bury a DEEP wing 3. He also connected on a pretty baseline mid range jumper. Lambers had a knack for finding space around the rim and was able to turn that into a bucket. He was engaged on defense as well, talking and letting his teammates know where he was going.
