Fresh Faces on Campus: NorCal 2029 part 2

The NorCal 2029 class continues to impress, with a mix of size, athleticism and skill on display. These freshmen prospects stood out as names to track early in their high school careers.    Jadun Van Ewijk | 6'0 PG | Riordan | Oakland Soldiers   Jadun Van Ewijk is an electric point guard whose quickness and creativity make him a constant threat. A gifted ball handler and natural playmaker, he has the ability to break down defenses and finish plays around the rim. He scores at all three levels, shooting it confidently both off the catch and off the dribble.   What sets Van Ewijk apart is his maturity as a point guard. He already takes command, leading vocally and by example. Van Ewijk often organizes the offense while still creating for himself. The talented young point guard is quickly emerging as one of the most talked-about freshman point guards in the area.     Devion Barry | 6'0 PG | San Leandro | Team Lillard   Devion Barry is a poised point guard who already plays with the maturity of an upperclassman. At 6'0, he brings control and confidence to the floor, dictating tempo and keeping his team steady in pressure moments. Barry knows when to score, when to facilitate, and when to slide off the ball, making him a versatile guard who impacts the game in multiple ways.   Barry's leadership stands out. Barry doesn't just play the game—he manages it, ensuring teammates are in the right spots and maintaining composure when opponents make runs. With that kind of presence, he's more than a point guard, he's a leader.    Barry projects to be the nucleus for San Leandro High, one who will shape the program's identity over the next four years.     [player_tooltip player_id='2877955' first='Marcus' last='Miller'] | 6'6 W/F | West Park (WPHS)   [player_tooltip player_id='2877955' first='Marcus' last='Miller'] is a long, athletic forward who's still developing physically but already showing intriguing versatility. At 6'6, he can handle the ball when needed, finish strong around the rim, and uses his length to create second-chance opportunities on the glass.   What makes Miller even more promising is his potential to improve his perimeter game. His outside mechanics look smooth and repeatable, while his ball handling and shooting range are pretty good and will continue to grow as he matures. With his size, athleticism and developing skill set, Miller has the potential to become one of the more versatile forwards in his class. At 5'10, he has the poise and skill set to take on a lead guard role early. He plays and thinks out the game as an upperclassman would. Byra combines deep shooting range with a quick release, making him a threat whenever the ball is in his hands.   He handles defensive pressure with composure, using his excellent ball handling and basketball iQ to beat defenses. Every shot Dominic takes looks like it's going in. His ability to read defenses early gives him an edge as both a scorer and facilitator.     Jaden DeJesus | 6'8 F | Christian Brothers DeJesus has the size, presence and an aggressive mentality to make an immediate impact. At 6'8, he embraces the physicality of playing inside, protecting the rim and rebounding with authority. What stands out most is how ready he is physically to battle with older bigs. Offensively, he keeps things simple but effective, finishing strong around the basket and looking to dunk whenever the opportunity is there. He even showed flashes of versatility when grabbing rebounds and pushing the ball up the court himself. With teammates like Joaquin Lucero-Mattis, [player_tooltip player_id='2960115' first='Braeden' last='Hennelly'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2510635' first='Andre' last='Rabb-Patterson'] alongside him, Christian Brothers now have someone with size that they can feature in the front-court.     [player_tooltip player_id='2952258' first='King' last='Griffin'] | 5'10 PG | Sacramento High Griffin showed why he's one of the most exciting young guards in the area. His ball handling is more than just elite, his creativity make his handle special! And he uses it to get to any desired spot on the floor. When you add in his speed with his handle he's very difficult for teams the trap and get the ball out of his hands. Around the rim, he finishes naturally with either hand naturally as an ambidextrous would. Griffin's layup finishes are next level. [player_tooltip player_id='2952258' first='King' last='Griffin'] is a true point guard that can run a team and is already capable of leading at the varsity level as he recently played up at the 17U. Sacramento High will be in great shape at the PG position for years to come.     [player_tooltip player_id='2952323' first='Kayden' last='Wu'] | 5'10 G | San Leandro | Team Lillard   [player_tooltip player_id='2952323' first='Kayden' last='Wu'] is a heady guard whose tight handle and high IQ make him a reliable playmaker. At 5'10, he consistently attacks the paint and creates easy scoring opportunities for his teammates. His footwork, sneaky athleticism and overall feel for the game allow him to play bigger than his listed height helping him compete against stronger defenders.   Wu will be joining a San Leandro roster loaded with underclassmen this season. His ability to effectively play on and off the ball could earn him time on the court right away.
