Every year the Bullis School puts on a top tier small college showcase for local prospects to compete in front of college coaches. The competition includes skill work in stations under the guidance of the college coaches, 3 on 3 halfcourt games , and 5 on 5 full court games. It's always a great place to see some new faces in the rising senior class as we peak around the corner at our rankings updates starting next week. Let's dive in first with the guards!

-One of my top performers, Camps produced at a high level in all 3 sections of play throughout the event. Camps is a steady floor general that doesn't turn the ball over, makes quick reads in traffic both in transition and in the halfcourt, and is capable of knocking down open jumpers from all 3 levels. Love the way that he protects the rock while waiting for on or off-ball screens to develop and understands the importance of the timing on his passe-- especially in the PnR. Camps also showed that he is willing to lay his body on the line--even in a showcase-- by drawing several charges or switching onto bigs and timing his stunts to swipe away steals before the big can get into a shooting motion. Should be one of the most impactful PGs in Moco this season.

-Liked the flashes that I saw from the rising senior as he showed off a compact handle, maneuvered through tight gaps in the defense to slice to the rim and score, and hit open C+S perimeter looks. Boisi operated well in the PnR and did a good job of keeping his dribble alive to keep his passing options open throughout the possession. Expect Boisi to break through and earn some minutes this season for a Bulldogs team that will properly operate their point guard position by committee.

-Liked the way that Razi played off of two feet in the event to give himself good balance and allow him the options to score or kick out to shooters on his drives to the paint. Razi is fundamentally solid, plays with good pace in the halfcourt, and is capable off the ball because of his ability to knock down shots. Thought that Razi has made some strides as an on-ball defender that has improved his ability to navigate screens and have his hands in passing lanes. But he is really disruptive as an off-ball defender because he uses his IQ to be in the right position, time digs down to the post, and swipe away steals from ballhandlers.

-Really dynamic guard that has sharpened his skillset even over the past few months since Spring AAU. McLaughlin did a great job of pitching ahead to teammates in transition after collecting loose balls, defensive rebounds, or steals at his own basket. McLaughlin understands how to change gears well on his drives to the rim and uses hesi dribbles/manipulates the defense with his eyes before getting downhill to make a play. He's especially dynamic in transition as he is a constant threat to both score and facilitate in the open floor and is really quick with his decisions.

-Harvey has long impressed as a shooter that can create space well for himself to score from all 3 levels but he was impressive for different reasons in this showcase. Harvey showed some improvements in how he scans the floor before even making the catch in order to get right into his move as soon as he has the ball. Harvey found guys well both in the halfcourt and in transition in moments where he didn't always have his head up scanning the floor for passing options other times that I have seen him play. Strongly believe that if he is a threat to both pass and score-- he can only help his recruitment as he goes into a senior season where he will be paramount to Severn's success.

-One of the more dynamic drivers in the area, it was more of the same from the rising senior. Robinson puts constant pressure on the rim but also rebounds it very well for his size at both ends of the floor. Really loved his defensive intensity from start to finish in this one as he guarded 1-5 at a high level, recovering well to block shots around the basket and on the perimeter to preserve leads for his team. If that defensive intensity doesn't falter and he can show that he can hit shots with some consistency (hit at least four 3s in 5 on 5 play)-- I expect that he can play his way into a scholarship this season.
