On Friday August 29th I spent a night at the Arizona Christian University Showcase. I watched 10 AIA teams and seven of the 10 were from the West Valley.

Here was my 3rd Team

(These are not rankings-just how they performed in the 1 game I viewed)

[player_tooltip player_id='2746700' first='Carter' last='Glass'] Sandra Day O'Connor (Pictured)

Arguably the top newcomer of the showcase was Glass. He has one of those shooting strokes that look good every attempt and one of the quickest releases in the gym from the three point line. He also hustles with out of area rebounds and plays like it is his last possession every play.

[player_tooltip player_id='2266385' first='Braylen' last='Gray'] Willow Canyon

One of the top shooters on the Wildcats. The southpaw will catch and shoot from the three point line one by one. He gets hot quickly and he plays the passing lanes well plus will score with offensive rebound put backs. He is turning into that coveted 3 and D type.

[player_tooltip player_id='2298905' first='Jorden' last='Etheridge'] Verrado

A pure point guard with great court vision threw a couple needle threaders on the day. He loves to pull-up off the dribble from mid-range, which is clearly his pet move. His tight handle and speed allows him to handle the heavy pressure.

[player_tooltip player_id='2386978' first='Jaydon' last='Hayes'] Willow Canyon

A thicker framed shooting guard is tough and skilled. He shoots it well from mid and in. He can score it to the basket with either hand using the floater game and contact drives. He will collect steals and lay it in at the other end.

[player_tooltip player_id='2640544' first='King' last='Kalikilwa'] West Point

A scoring sophomore defensive guard is quickly improving. He moves his feet well and comes with length to pester his opponents. He scores it to the basket and goes up quickly with a nice handle. He is a capable perimeter shooter but is best to the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='2339084' first='Samuel' last='Kalikilwa'] West Point

One of the better two-way shooting guards in the AIA. He will score with tear drops, threes off the catch and downhill takes. He is very physical and strong to keep his opponents in front of him and brings a no-nonsense approach to the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='2759167' first='Taylan' last='Owens'] Canyon View

A gifted pure point guard is one of the most talented guards in the class. His handle is just as tight with his left as his right and sees the court with advanced vision. He will score with threes off the catch, off the dribble mid-range jumpers and quick takes to the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='2109038' first='Nate' last='Tainsky'] Hamilton

A sharp shooting guard can rattle in threes off the catch with picture perfect form. He is one of the more consistent shooters and can give a hard ball fake and get downhill with a quick burst. He plays perfectly off of Terry and Cole Jr.

[player_tooltip player_id='2315526' first='Max' last='Weaver'] Deer Valley

A combo guard who can handle the lead role or move over to the off guard position. He finds teammates for dimes and will score with drives to the basket, threes off the catch and back door layups. He was a pleasant surprise for the Skyhawks.

[player_tooltip player_id='2506451' first='Trey' last='Wenk'] Deer Valley

A bigger combo guard has grown at least one inch if not two. He has a super quick shooting release and gets it off his hands before the defender closes out to him. He is a good rebounder for his position with his new size and gives the Skyhawks another scoring option.
