2027 Big North Guard Prospects to Track

<p>Schools across the Garden State are starting, meaning the basketball season is creeping closer. The Big North is loaded with talent in the back court and should showcase their skills, especially in the 2027 class. Here are the 2027 Big North guard prospects to track this season.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2202019' first='Alex' last='Mazzella'], 5'8 PG Bergen Catholic</strong></h2>   <p>Mazzella is a true point guard prospect whose stock should increase as the season progresses. The 5'8 guard has a tight handle, which he uses to get to his spot on the floor and finishes nicely around the rim. Mazzella can also score in the mid-range and sets his feet before he shoots. He threads passes to his open teammates in the half court and uses his quick hands to get deflections on defense. Mazzella joins a talented Bergen Catholic squad who is looking to repeat as Non-Public A champions.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2709454' first='Brooklyn' last='Jelinsky'], 6'4 CG/PG Wayne Hills</strong></h2>   <p>Jelinsky's ability to play on and off the ball is something that will help his development throughout the course of the season. The 6'4 guard knows how to get to his spot on the floor and uses his size to see over his defender. Jelinsky rises up with confidence on his jumper and makes opponents pay for giving him space behind the arc. He has the length to defend multiple positions on the floor and is an underrated rebounder. Jelinsky should play on and off the ball this season and has the potential to light up the scoreboard this season.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2347952' first='Jahlil' last='Owusu'], 6'2 CG Bergen Catholic</strong></h2>   <p>Mazzella is not the only Crusader on the list as Owusu has the potential to have a big winter season. The 6'2 guard attacks the basket with a purpose as he finishes strong around the rim and can draw contact around the rim. Owusu is more than just a slasher as he wastes little motion in his release and shoots the ball with confidence from behind the arc. He is a tough on-ball defender and pushes the pace well in transition. Owusu is a gritty guard prospect who should make plays at both ends of the floor throughout the course of the season.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2421360' first='Tom' last='Diomedi'], 6'5 SG St. Joseph Regional</strong></h2>   <p>Diomedi has the potential to play either spot on the perimeter, making him an intriguing prospect to track in the class. The 6'5 wing has a clean release on his jumper and can knock down triples in bunches. Diomedi moves well without the ball in his hands, freeing himself for open jumpers and layups in the half court. He is an underrated defender and works hard on the glass. Diomedi is a sharpshooting wing prospect who should torch the nets from distance this season.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2421373' first='Tommy' last='Calaprese'], SG Cliffside Park</strong></h2>   <p>Calaprese is one of the best shooters in the Big North and should put it on display this season. He has a good shooting stroke and can get hot from distance in a hurry. Calaprese is more than just a shooter as he can also get into the paint off the bounce and finishes well around the rim. He is an underrated passer and gets deflections on the defensive end. Calaprese's ability to stretch the floor is something that will help his stock in a big way over the course of the season.</p>
