The Summer 24: Top 24 Players I saw Across Arizona

This summer was one of the best we've seen for Arizona high school basketball. From high-level match ups to competitive tournaments and invite-only showcases, the stage was set for players across the state to make a name for themselves. Whether it was at Section 7, the Best in Basketball events, or local team camps, talent was everywhere — and plenty of prospects made the most of their opportunities.      This summer, he truly raised his stock, proving himself as one of the most dynamic players on the floor. He was a workhorse on both ends, consistently crashing the boards and playing with unmatched intensity. Offensively, he showed his versatility, attacking the basket with power, finishing through contact, and throwing down some powerful dunks. His athleticism was on full display, with his vertical leap reaching new heights. He also excelled off the ball, moving without it to create scoring opportunities for himself and keeping defenses on their toes.     He was one of the best shot-makers I saw all summer, effortlessly knocking down shots from deep and off the catch. He played with excellent pace, showing a strong handle and the ability to create space for better looks. Whether defenders were in his face or not, it didn't seem to matter — he made difficult shots look easy, even with a hand in his face. Beyond his scoring, he consistently opened up easy scoring opportunities for his teammates, creating space and finding them in the right spots to capitalize.     A big-time incoming freshman standing at 6'5 with a mature frame already, he made a serious statement this summer. He looked completely at ease playing at the varsity level, making an impact on both ends of the floor. His ability to catch and shoot with consistency was one of the first things that stood out — he's a confident shooter. Not only can he score at all three levels, but he also displayed his defensive prowess, defending with confidence and protecting the rim. This kid is one to watch as he continues to grow into a force on both sides of the ball.     He was in full attack mode all summer, taking on some really good competition on the West Coast and making an impact every time he hit the floor. His confidence from beyond the arc was clear, hitting threes consistently and displaying his deep range. Whether driving past defenders or finishing at the rim, he always found a way to get downhill and draw contact. His ability to score in multiple ways kept defenders on their toes throughout the entire summer. Last year, he played mostly off the ball, but this summer, I saw him take on more of the ball-handling duties, and it was impressive. His ability to thrive in both roles — whether as a scorer off the ball or as a primary ball handler — will be a huge asset for his team this year.     He's got one of the best motors I've seen, an explosive athlete who can make an impact on both ends of the floor. His finishing ability was a standout — getting downhill and finishing through contact with ease. He was always a lob threat in transition, keeping defenders constantly alert. On top of that, he showed a complete offensive arsenal, scoring in a variety of ways and proving to be a constant threat all over the court.     A natural point guard, he plays with unmatched poise, never allowing the game to speed him up. Always composed, he makes smart, calculated decisions and does a great job of involving his teammates. He's the ultimate example of a player who makes everyone around him better. A three-level scorer, he has the ability to get to any shot he wants, whenever he needs it. With the ball in his hands, he's got it on a string, creating opportunities for both himself and his team.     He had a strong summer showing growth in multiple areas of his game. Shot it well from deep, but what really stood out was the jump he made as a playmaker and defender. He's noticeably added size, which has helped him absorb contact and finish through it more consistently. A mature 3-level scorer who can get to any shot he wants when the team needs a bucket. Shined both on the ball and off, showing just how versatile and polished his offensive game has become.
