Cooper Nelson, a crafty guard, poses a significant threat on the offensive end. He excels in finding open teammates, scoring on multiple levels, and controlling the pace of the game. His quick ball-handling skills enable him to bypass defenders and create holes in opposing defenses. I had the opportunity to watch Cooper play in multiple tournaments on the Prep Hoops circuit, closely analyzing his game during the Lonestar State Showdown. I was particularly impressed with his performances as a point guard.

What's Next for Cooper?
Cooper, a senior at Sterlington High School, is poised to continue his summer success into the fall. He has recently received offers from Southwestern Christian College, Hills College, and The University of Texas A&M Texarkana. Throughout his high school career, Cooper has achieved remarkable accomplishments. He has been named to the first-team all-district, second-team all-state, and first-team all-Ouachita Parish teams. Additionally, he has scored an impressive 2,000 points so far.

Avanta Lyons is a speedy guard who excels at getting to the basket past defenders immediately after the catch during the offense and in transition situations, quickly dribbling down the court before opposing defenses can set up. His exceptional skill in this area draws a significant amount of contact at the basket, ultimately leading him to the free-throw line. I've witnessed multiple games where he's been automatic from that area. While handling the ball in the half-court, he makes plays for his teammates due to his evident passing skills. As the Prep Hoops summer circuit season progressed, Avanta improved significantly.

What's Next for Avanta?
Avanta, a rising senior, recently transferred from Pineville High School to Alexandria Senior High School. Joining a team that went 27-8 throughout the 2024-25 season, I believe Avanta will fit right in. In my opinion, Avanta is ready for the next level, and I'm confident he'll be offered a scholarship before the end of his high school season.

Joseph Spann was undoubtedly the most exceptional defensive guard I had the privilege of witnessing throughout the entire Prep Hoops Circuit Season. His on-ball pressure, evident in the tournaments I observed him play in, compelled opposing ball handlers to make hasty and incorrect decisions. Beyond his defensive prowess, Joseph showcased his hustle and made consistent big plays. While excelling defensively, he also demonstrated his ability to score effectively at all levels. Notably, on O.W.E 17U, he demonstrated his adaptability by playing different roles, contributing to the team's success.

What's Next for Joseph?
At Lincoln Prep, Joseph has garnered accolades from being named to the first-team all-district and all-state teams. As a junior, he also achieved the remarkable feat of scoring 1,000 points, averaging an impressive 19.8 points per game. Beyond his scoring ability, Joseph's defensive prowess is a significant asset that will undoubtedly translate to the next level of competition. Standing at 6 feet tall, he possesses the strong frame of a college guard. Keep an eye out for Joseph to be offered soon by college programs!

Niran Ogunyemi is a guard who possesses a unique edge that sets him apart from many prospects I observed during the 2025 Prep Hoops Circuit. His defensive prowess is evident in his ability to disrupt the opposition's flow, leading to turnovers. Additionally, in transition, Niran is a threat to fill out the lanes, making him a formidable opponent in those situations. When he had the chance to finish at the basket, he performed well by finishing strongly through contact. From the perimeter, he can knock down looks if given enough room at times. I thoroughly enjoyed watching him play with intense passion during the minutes he was on the court.

What Next for Niran?
Niran, a 2026 guard, will conclude his senior year at Captain Shreve High School, where he and his team aim to make a deep playoff run. Niran's ability to impact various statistical categories on the court makes him a formidable prospect for college coaches. In the future, look for Niran to receive offers from college programs!

Javonte Ford is a shooting guard who uses his athleticism to create havoc during play-ending baskets. His finishes can significantly alter the game's momentum, especially in transition situations. In these situations, Javonte can sprint his lanes to make himself a target for easy points. Javonte is capable of shooting the ball from range if open on the perimeter. Javonte is a formidable rebounder, excelling on both ends of the court and significantly contributing to impressive rebound statistics. Defensively, Javonte's 6'4” frame showcases his defensive versatility, as he can rotate onto multiple players.

What's Next for Javonte?
Javonte, a senior at Pleasant Hill High School, will be concluding his high school career this season. His team is determined to make another state championship appearance, following their successful run to the state title game last season. Javonte's athleticism alone should attract the attention of college coaches, as he possesses the versatility to excel in various positions on the court.

Kade Lockett is a versatile scoring threat who can score points in various ways. His explosive nature enables him to outmaneuver opponents, whether in the half-court or full court. He has a knack for going up strong with coverage at the basket. Throughout my time watching his game on the Prep Hoops circuit, I've witnessed his ability to make shots on all three levels consistently. While Kade excels offensively, he's also willing to get into the paint to secure rebounds as a guard on the defensive end. On the perimeter, he demonstrates active defensive reading skills in the passing lanes.

What's Next for Kade?
Kade, a senior at Port Allen High School, will be entering his final year of high school. I'm confident that he will continue to contribute to the school's offensive flow, carrying the momentum he gained from the Prep Hoops Circuit. His impressive offensive skill set should undoubtedly attract the attention of college coaches at the next level.
