On Saturday, September 6th, Hoop Mountain will be running a showcase for high school players at Mass Premier Courts in Foxboro, MA. The event will be coached by 8 college coaches, and dozens of other college and prep school coaches will be attending the event to scout for future prospects. Though I can't make it in person, I'll be covering the showcase thanks to video of all the games!

As a preview, here are some public school players who will be there that have a good case to reclassify at a prep school and play D3 hoops.

Flemming is a rising junior at Newton South and despite his size (only 5-foot-9), he has all the things you want a short point guard to have. He's lightning quick with the ball in his hands, and he has an amazing handle, so he's virtually impossible to take the ball from and he handles pressure quite well. He also finishes surprisingly well at the cup and has a great head on his shoulders in terms of understanding when to be aggressive and when to kick out to teammates. He should be a star on Newton South's team this upcoming season and will definitely be a candidate to reclassify and attend a prep school the following year.

Cormier is a late blooming wing/big who should be very intriguing to high level D3 coaches. He's 6-foot-7 and pretty strong, but he also has guard skills and the ability to shoot it from the outside. He clearly works on his handle, different ways of picking up the ball, and crafty footwork in the paint. He might still be growing physically and even if he isn't, he has a modern skillset and will be garnering looks from prep school coaches for post-grad positions. He'll be a star for Newburyport HS this season as a rising senior and will turn heads at Mass Premier.

Stamm is a rising senior at Newton North, where he was a DCL all star last season for a really good team. The 6-foot-1 combo guard has a knack for putting the ball in the hoop and does so in a variety of ways at the hoop. He does a good job using his body in transition -- slowing down and veering into the defender -- but he also has solid athleticism and quick finishes over bigger guys at the rim. He needs to work on his shot fundamentals, but his ability to get to the cup will probably make him one of the Tigers' leading scorers next season. After a potentially great season at Newton North, I could totally see Stamm getting prep school post-grad looks.

Fletcher is only 6-foot-1, but he's an above the rim athlete who can really finish at the hoop. He's able to get to the rim via dribble moves and cutting and then elevates quite well off of two feet, but he can also knock down some shots from the outside, though his shot is a bit wonky. Fletcher is skinny and entering his senior year, but he should be a key cog for Milton HS and will probably get some post-grad looks along with his brother, Bryce.

The twin brother of Cole, Bryce brings lots of the same athletic gifts to the floor. Though he may not be as good of a leaper, he has enough athleticism to finish at the hoop and can glide through the air with ease. Bryce also does an amazing job getting to his mid-range pull-up and should be a huge scorer for Milton HS this upcoming season from the paint. His skillset should be really intriguing to prep school coaches looking for an athletic combo guard who can get hot quickly.

McBournie has excellent body control and patience, which makes him a really fundamentally sound player who can comfortably handle defensive pressure. The 6-foot guard never tries to do too much and will make the simple pass quickly and consistently, though he also has the passing flare and vision necessary to pull off some beautiful assists. McBournie best attribute is his pull-up jumper -- he has very nice-looking form from the mid-range and three. He is a true 2026 and will most definitely garner post-grad looks after his season at Trinity this year.
