7 Freshmen to Know This Winter

The Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase is set to go down on August 30th at the Auburn Fieldhouse. It's an event that will help us get to know a ton of new freshmen heading into the 2025-26 season. We've already had the chance to watch some incoming players across the spring and summer seasons, and here are seven guys who have made early impressions, looking like solid prospects heading into their high school debuts. Annie Wright will have a vastly different looking team this winter, and Martinez looks like someone who will come in and have an instant impact. He can shoot the lights out from deep, is crafty with his dribble, and has shown he can play at different speeds to get into the paint.     Whitfield's a lanky guard who has shown some real ability to strike from 3-point range, but also has a great foundation to be an all-around scorer. He'll pair up with a few of their younger guards and wings to highlight a bright future at West Valley, but don't overlook the impact he will have this season as a kid with some size and touch from different levels.     One of the most heralded freshmen across the country, Crawford already boasts a handful of offers, including Kansas, Washington, Oregon, and Arizona State. He's already shown he'll be a mainstay in the Vikings' rotation as one of the better 3-point shooters on the squad. He's also got an advanced feel with the rock and really handles the ball with a poise far advanced for his age.     Another exciting incoming player for Annie Wright, Poulin is a long, athletic wing whose above-the-rim play has shown up in countless highlights over the spring and summer. He's already affecting the game on both ends with his length and reactions, and has the potential to be a legit stat-stuffer in the future.     A smooth wing prospect who could make some noise this winter, Stonerock has the size and ability to attack off the dribble that makes him a player to watch. He also shows a smooth shot out to three and has some big potential entering his freshman year.     Harris is one of the taller incoming freshmen we have seen already. He's fairly athletic, gets up and down the floor well, rebounds at a high rate on both ends, and has some good instincts as a shot blocker. He'll be a big man to track in the 2029 class with some big upside.     Moreland has a very smooth offensive game, handles the ball with poise, can get to his spots, and does a good job scoring efficiently from each level. He already seems adapted to the physicality and pace at the high school level and has shown he can play aggressively while making good decisions.
