GRBA National Championship - Ramsey's Under-the-Radar Stars Pt. 1

Prep Hoops Indiana brought the summer to a close with coverage from the annual GRBA National Championship in Fort Wayne. We took in several games in about a 24-hour period from Friday evening until late Saturday afternoon watching teams across the 15u, 16u, and 17u age groups. Here are some of the top under-the-radar upperclassmen prospects who ended the grassroots season on a high note.    We've had the chance to see Burgher play a couple of times throughout this spring and summer and he always seems to catch our attention. The athletic 5'11" guard showed his ability to run the point while really making an impact on the defensive end of the floor. His athleticism stands out on both ends. Burger played his best in the biggest games scoring 13 points in an impressive win over Full Package on Sunday morning and then 15 points in a close overtime loss in the Final Four.     Jones and Horvath generally put up the biggest scoring numbers for [program_tooltip program_id='2814675' first='Indiana' last='Eclipse'] 17u, but Foster is the straw that stirs the drinks. The 6'0" point guard from Mishawaka Marian High School is an excellent playmaker with a real pass-first mentality. His quickness, ability to change the pace, and overall ball-handling ability make him an intriguing under-the-radar floor general to keep an eye on.     We watched Fuller-Tucker dominant the offensive glass for the [program_tooltip program_id='2305499' first='Hoosier' last='State Prospects'] 17u on Friday night. Then, the 6'6" forward/center went on to post some big numbers as the weekend went along at the GRBA National Championship. His best performance came in a close loss to LVL UP 260 17u as he put up 19 points and 7 rebounds in that one. Fuller-Tucker, a rising senior at Providence High School, is a consistent interior finisher and versatile defensive piece.     Lehman stood out for LVL UP - Brown 17u on Friday night displaying fluid athleticism, good ball handling ability in the open floor, and some real aggressiveness when driving downhill to the rim. He is at his best as a driver where he can use that athleticism and positional size at 6'3", but he did flash some perimeter shot-making ability as well. If he can really prove himself as a consistent shooter during his senior year at South Adams High School it will make him an intriguing small college prospect.     We've had this prospect on our radar for a long time now. McNiece is a versatile front court piece that impressed us over the weekend with his defensive rebounding ability and how he would then start the break with an outlet pass. Offensively he is a good and willing passer that can finish inside with his left hand. The rising senior at Homestead High School is one that small college programs should continue to evaluate. Well-rounded forward.     Mohamud has really burst onto the scene this spring and summer with [program_tooltip program_id='2305499' first='Hoosier' last='State Prospects'] 17u after averaging 9.6 points per game for the Class 2A State Runner-Up as a junior. The 6'2" guard is a good playmaker that consistently plays off of two feet at the end of his drives and is a willing passer. However, aside from the playmaking, he also poured in 26 points in a game at GRBA Nationals on Saturday. What he can do on the offensive end makes him a solid under-the-radar backcourt piece to follow.     We've consistently been impressed by this 6'8" center this spring and summer. He has really improved his strength and physicality around the basket which has helped both as a finisher and rebounder. Peters can finish with both hands, attacks the boards with two hands, and holds his own in the post defensively. The rising senior at Heritage Christian High School has had a good run with INB Elite 17u and is a name that college coaches who are looking for size should check out.     Rice opened play on Sunday morning with a monster performance scoring 22 points an collecting a very impressive 16 rebounds from the backcourt for [program_tooltip program_id='2383637' first='Summit' last='City Elite'] Black 17u. The 5'10" guard is unafraid of mixing it up with bigger opponents. A rising senior at DeKalb High School, Rice was a consistent contributor for Summit City at the GRBA National Championship.
