With the spring and summer high school and club basketball seasons firmly in the rearview, we dug deep into our evaluations of the 2027 class in Southern California and put a fresh update on our rankings. In this piece we go through a positional breakdown of the point guard spot with a quick thought on each of the top 5 PG's in the 2027 class

1. [player_tooltip player_id='2646501' first='NaVorro' last='Bowman'] | Notre Dame

The dynamic scoring and creating guard earned the top overall spot in the rankings because of his ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor and take over a game as a three-level scorer or playmaker for teammates. The 6-foot-2 rising junior has a high major feel for the game and his ability to toy with opposing defenders without over-handling is what is most impressive about his game. Read a further evaluation on Bowman in our Stock-Risers piece.

2. [player_tooltip player_id='2436278' first='Malcolm' last='Price'] | St. Joseph

Price is a steady decision-maker with quick twitch speed that allows him to get to his spots in transition and half-court offense. The 6-footer is a savvy finisher around the rim and a consistent pull-up jump shooter. Where he thrives is being a table setter for talented teammates and his speed with the ball, combined with his unselfish nature, make him a true point guard prospect. The traits price possesses slotted him at No. 12 overall.

3. [player_tooltip player_id='2435372' first='Josiah' last='Nance'] | Notre Dame

Nance battled injuries this spring and summer, but make no mistake about it, when healthy, the 6-foot-5 guard is one of the best point/combo guards we have in SoCal. The lefty big-guard is a smooth ball handler, steady decision-maker, high IQ passer and knows how to use his size and strength advantages to score inside. Nance is our No. 13 overall prospect in this class, but we could see him inch back closer to the top 10 with a strong season.

4. [player_tooltip player_id='2918681' first='Sloane' last='Harris'] | Roosevelt | *Pictured

Harris took a big jump this spring and summer while playing for the Compton Magic 16u squad and he is a much different style of point guard than most on this list. The 6-foot-1 rising junior is all about physicality, toughness and a bully mindset on the defensive end of the floor. Harris is also a poised decision-maker who is improving as a perimeter shooter. Harris earned a small jump in the rankings from No. 17 to No. 15 overall.

5. [player_tooltip player_id='2436274' first='Jordan' last='Hampton'] | Windward

As we mentioned in our Stock-Risers piece earlier in the week, Hampton showed a heightened sense of confidence and belief in his game which led to him boosting value, not only as a playmaker for his team, but also on the recruiting front. The quick 6-foot-2 point guard is a constant paint toucher who is shooting the three-ball at a high clip. Hampton made one of the bigger rises in the rankings as he jumped from No. 35 to No. 26 overall.
