When it comes to next-level readiness, Bowman, Jr. is among the most high major ready guards in the country. The 6-foot-4 UConn commit has the physical and athletic tools to compete at the highest levels of college basketball and his scoring ability is up to par with that, as well. Bowman, Jr. was catching lobs, pulling up for deep threes, finishing through contact at the rim and made timely plays for teammates in transition and out of pick-and-roll situations.

A prospect I’m a bit higher on than the rest of the industry, Bowman Jr is ranked between 11th and 17th on 247, Rivals and ESPN. This isn’t a significant difference from where I have him at number eight but enough to mention that I have Bowman Jr stock long term. At Peach Jam, Bowman Jr was one of the most electrifying players to watch as he carried Team Why Not in some high profile contests thanks to his ability to take over the game. Bowman Jr has a tremendous frame, physical tools for a point guard and has continued to improve his perimeter shooting and scoring ability. All signs are pointing upwards for the Southern California based guard and Bowman Jr is the second prospect in this article who comes from a NFL family with his dad being a four time first team all-pro with the San Francisco 49ers.

The first game I evaluated NaVorro Bowman, he hit four insane half court off the dribble three pointers and my attention was immediately drawn to his shooting ability. He picks his spots carefully and isolates defenders that he knows he can take advantage of with his quick handles and high-level decision making. He also stays consistent at the foul line and knows how to draw contact, even attacking taller defenders in the paint. One of the most consistent shooters I watched at EYBL Peach Jam, Bowman is on track for his recruiting to skyrocket tremendously and from the looks of his offers, it already has. Some notable schools taking a high interest in Bowman include Texas, UCLA, USC, Arizona, California, and Illinois.

It was a bit of a slow start for Bowman, but the five star guard had it rolling from the second quarter on.  Elite shot maker that poured them in all over the floor.  Gets to his spot and rises over defenders with ease from both two and three.  The shot making difficulty got harder as the game went along draining and-1 triples and even hitting a runner three to give his team a chance late.  The combination of athleticism and shot making are so intriguing at the college and NBA levels.  Bowman went for 33 points (10-21 FG) (7-11 3PT) (6-6 FT) along with 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals cementing his status among nations best.

One of the most impressive individual performances of the day came from Bowman Jr. despite it happening in a loss for Team Why Not 17u. The silky smooth guard went on an insane run in the second half eventually connecting on 7 of 11 three-point attempts on his way to 33 points along with 4 rebounds and 5 assists. It was arguably the most impressive shot-making display from the first two days of Peach Jam. In terms of raw playmaking ability it is hard to find someone more talented than Bowman Jr. right now.

Bowman is California’s No. 1 prospect and he continues to prove why as he checks in as a Top 5 scorer on the EYBL Circuit. The 6-foot-4 combo guard has an unmatched combination of size, strength, speed and vertical athleticism and that combination of physical and athletic tools allows him to get to his spots with ease. Bowman lulls defenders to sleep with hesitations only to quickly change speed and attack the smallest of gaps to get into the lane or to the rim where he can score with power or finesse.

-Bowman has really grinded to give himself a much more well-rounded game since my last viewing. Bowman has grown a bit, probes the defense without over-dribbling, is a confident shooter off the catch, and has packed on good weight in his upper body to absorb contact at the defensive end and dole out contact at the other end. His competitive fire really stands as a POA defender that gets under his matchup without fouling with relative ease- a difficult feat when matched up with several 5-star point guards throughout the week. Picked up an IU offer after his play this week and I expect his national stock to pick up over the course of the summer with Why Not.

He can get downhill in the blink of an eye and has no issue making tough finishes. He also does a good job of looking for quality shots on the perimeter, and he made 2 of his 5 attempts against Coronado. On the other end of the court, he was causing chaos regularly. Racking up 7 steals.

Bowman is a skilled and athletic player that can score in volume, is a tough on-ball defender, and applies relentless pressure on both ends of the court. The 6-foot-4 combo guard keeps the ball on a string to survey the defense, has a low dribble to weave through the defense to find openings, uses the crossover, behind cross, and the hesitation to get by his initial defender, has a nice burst of speed off the bounce to get paint touches, with the body control and footwork to score through contact en route to the basket, and uses the spin move and reverse lay-ups to evade rim protectors at the basket. Bowman is a good positional rebounder, looks to push the pace of play, has the court vision to find players up the court, as well as in the half court setting, in particular making reads off the pick and roll action or the drive and kick pass attacking off the perimeter. Bowman is an elite on-ball defender with active hands, good timing and instincts to jump passing lanes, and looks to turn defense to offense on the regular.
