Lanier is blossoming into one of the better junior class shooting guard prospects. At 6-feet-4 with a sturdy frame and explosive vertical athleticism, Lanier competes athletically with the top-shelf guys in the Mission League and brings an important skill to take pressure off of his own talented teammates — the ability to knock down shots. Lanier is a consistent threat on catch-and-shoot threes, pull-up jumpers and can get to the rim on straight-line drive opportunities. His ability to rebound in and out of his area is his most underrated skill.

Zion Lanier Zion Lanier 6'4" | SG Notre Dame-Sherman Oaks | 2028 State CA-S is a gritty shooting guard that can score in a variety of ways. He is a threat to splash in shots from the outside, and he connected on both of his attempts against Coronado. He also hit all 5 of his 2-point FG, going 7-7 from the field overall. And he finished with 16 points. Considering his height, poise, and touch, he’ll definitely be a 2028 who continues to turn heads this season.

Lanier is probably one of the more under-the-radar scorers in the class. As a freshman last season, the 6-foot-3 shooting guard played JV due to a major logjam of talented players on the varsity level but I’m of the belief he will carve out a role on varsity this season. Lanier has an advanced scoring arsenal complete with shot-making ability from all three levels of the floor. Lanier isn’t the quickest or fastest prospect but he uses deceptive change of speed and hesitations to get defenders off-balance which allows him to get into a rhythm pull-up jumper.
