6/10/25: Within weeks [player_tooltip player_id='2133810' first='Ty' last='Cobb'] won Mr. Basketball and 3A State Championship...oh and the Tournament MVP. This was all accomplished by a sophomore. Virtually unheard of. For Upperman Ty was a do-everything guard capable of scoring, passing, getting to the free throw line. He has a game that resembles Luca Doncic somewhat. Offensively, there is just a single better '27 guard in Tennessee, [player_tooltip player_id='2101889' first='Justin' last='Frison'].

6/10/25: Huston was the only sophomore to play in the State Championship Game for Knox Webb and he played quite a bit. Wearing #15 Torres stayed on the floor for 13:22 minutes, scored 9 points and collected a single steal. Torrey was efficient too as he made 2-4 from the three-point line. Webb used a 7-man rotation against Briarcrest Christian and won 54-45. In the semifinal Torrey also played more than 10 minutes (11:37), but he was not as impactful offensively. Torres score two points and took just a single shot from the field. In each game he drew two fouls.

6/10/25: The 4A Champion Hillsboro Burros had little need for underclassmen in 2024-2025 and yet [player_tooltip player_id='2816354' first='Lonny' last='Holland'] forced his way into the rotation as a playmaking guard. Lonny boasts nice guard-size at 6-foot-2 with good natural strength. His weakness right now is shot selection, something he will need to improve as he develops. Still, the broad set of skills suggest Holland will be a top scorer in the competitive district right away.

6/10/25: Colton was an integral part of the Upperman run to the title. At 6-foot-4, Colton played under the basket and rebounded like a bull. Facing Greeneville [player_tooltip player_id='2815986' first='Colton' last='Johnson'] recorded four rebounds. The victory over Greeneville sent Upperman to the title game.

6/10/25: Knox Webb's sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2879513' first='Javon' last='Dirl'] barely played in the state tournament. In fact, he played less than a minute between the two games the Spartans played in Cookeville. His potential is plain though with the ability to attack the rim offensively and slide his feet on the other end. Dirl might be a combo guard. Webb's system tends to feature wings and one forward inside. Guards are all required to do basically each skill (dribble, pass, shoot) and so the position label is relatively meaningless until he gets to college.
