Munson impacts Lockport

I got to see a lot of what [player_tooltip player_id='2822689' first='Nate' last='Munson'], a 2027 prospect, can do on the Prep Hoops circuit last month. It was a similar story Sunday morning while playing for his high school squad. Munson was involved in almost every play during the opening stages of the contest. Showing great confidence as a floor general to find open teammates and push the tempo. He allowed everything to click in the first half. The lead only grew because of him, too with more great defense and playmaking in the open floor. Lockport might be a sleeper team in the southwest suburbs because of a guy like Munson.

MacArthur is a legit downstate threat

Their matchup vs Peoria Richwoods was the second time during this live period I got to watch them. Last Sunday, I wrote a piece on how they completely rolled over Romeoville. The quality, aggressiveness, and tenacity of this group was no different this weekend. I loved watching Jercorey Murphy, and I wish I could have written more about him last week. Murphy had an aggressive opening frame and made some athletic finishes inside. As the game progressed, he started to make plays as a passer on the wing. We also saw another great matchup from [player_tooltip player_id='2890389' first='Khymir' last='Carson'] and Tyshawn Clemons. Carson forced tons of turnovers while Clemons made some great passes off the pick-and-roll. Clemens even finished a tight lefty layup through contact in the second half. Giving them a 20-point lead. They led by as much as 30 in this game and won the contest 69-42.

A look at York

Got a chance to watch York face Hazelwood east late Sunday morning. They don't have that superstar, but showed to be well coached and play very good team ball on both ends. They forced tons of turnovers and misses in the opening frame with a good zone defense. They also saw great contributions from [player_tooltip player_id='1552402' first='Ethan' last='Iacob'] on pick-and-roll opportunities as well as shooting from [player_tooltip player_id='1552401' first='John' last='Vlahos']. 2027 G Sawyer Asgedpm got going later in the game. Pushing the tempo at an incredible pace which propelled a nice York run. Then hit a pair of triples to give the Dukes a 23-point lead in the second half. Some more sweet hooks from Iacob kept the lead at double-digits.

[player_tooltip player_id='2865852' first='Torey' last='Baskin'] has big weekend

The Hoffman Estates point guard had a highly effective weekend with some massive scoring outbursts. I caught him and his team in their final game of the weekend vs Lanphier. It was here where I saw a nice playmaking side to Baskin's game. Lanphier played lots of double-teams which helped Baskin find open guys and pick up numerous assists. Buckets started coming later on as he flashed some crafty moves to the basket. Even tipping in one of his misses. The Hawks lost a tight matchup.

Glenbard East comes back vs Thornton

The final game I watched this weekend was between Thornton and Glenbard East. From the jump, it was a super energetic matchup. Thornton had the edge early . Much of that thanks to sophomore guards [player_tooltip player_id='2877539' first='Lester' last='Watson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2879381' first='Mekhi' last='Young']. Watson is a great playmaker and picked up three assists on three straight possessions at one point. He also got going as a scorer with buckets from all three levels. But [player_tooltip player_id='2839863' first='Michael' last='Nee'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2411580' first='Jacob' last='Marynowski'] kept Glenbard East in this game. I'm very impressed with Marynowski's ability to finish tough plays inside. Especially at just 6'3”. While Nee showed love to the mid range and adds an excellent first step to his game. They got their first lead on a pull-up three pointer by Nee from the top of the key. Then he hit a tough mid-range shot to expand the lead late in the contest. Glenbard East held on for a 54-50 win
