With the high school summer league starting up, I will be coming back to Meridian HS in Laurel, WA to attend the Laurel Shootout for the 3rd straight year. Here will be part 1 which will feature what players to keep an eye on the teams.

Lynden Christian HS:

[player_tooltip player_id='2457277' first='Kaden' last='Veldman'] (6'4" / 2027) - Kaden is a monster in the paint and is one of the strongest players in the 2027 class. Veldman is a defensive nightmare, having fantastic timing when going for blocks and when getting rebounds. His jumper has been improving steadily but after it is consistent, he could easily win the NWC MVP next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2739562' first='Gunnar' last='Dykstra'] (5'9" / 2027) - Dykstra has one of the most pure jumpers in the state, having the ability to make off-balance shots and tough contested lay-ups. He handles the ball well, being able to contain his dribble through double teams and find his open teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id='2392727' first='Dawson' last='Hintz'] (6'2" / 2027) - Dawson started off last year by healing from a football injury but when he got back on the court, he was back with vengeance. He knows how to facilitate the Lyncs offense to a high level and really can score the ball. He gets down-hill smoothly with his strength and savviness with the ball but also has a jumper that can extend well beyond the three point line.

Sedro-Woolley HS:

[player_tooltip player_id='2457283' first='Ethan' last='DeJong'] (6'4" / 2026) - Ethan, or Stew as he is more known by the local community, is a player who could EASILY claim the NWC league MVP next year. He has the offensive game to drop 20 a night, having a unique offensive game that is very well rounded. He can score from all 3 levels, being able to work from the wing or from the paint and with or without the ball in his hands. He is always someone to watch on the court and if you look away, you might miss a huge dunk.

Camden Howell (6'1" / 2027) - Camden is a player who doesn't know anything but giving 100% and being a gritty player in general. He knows the game to a high level, knowing when to set screens or space out for the offense to get open shots for someone. He is a great shooter from deep too and doesn't need much time at all in order to get his shot off. He is a fundamentally sound player who does it all on the court.

Samuel Schulberg (6'3" / 2027) - Sam doesn't have very much varsity experience on the court but he is someone who I think could take a big step when he gets a solid role. Schulberg is a high jumper for track, qualifying for state this season. He can jump out of the gym and if someone is under the basket, Sam will put him on a poster. He has a nice mid-range game too, attacking from the wing in a big way with his length.

Lummi Nation:

[player_tooltip player_id='1685496' first='Jerome' last='Toby'] (5'10" / 2026) - Jerome helped Lummi Nation win the state championship last season and put the team on his back. Toby handles the ball well and can get out in transition insanely quickly and get ahead of the opposing team. He shoots the ball well from deep but is more lethal when attacking down-hill and kicking it out to open shooters.

[player_tooltip player_id='2182812' first='Dyson' last='Edwards'] (6'1" / 2027) - Dyson has been steadily growing his game over the years. Edwards has a unique play style, being able to pick apart defenders with his dribble and his length. He stops on a dime when attacking and rises above defenders to get his shot off and sink it with ease. Edwards hits contested lay-ups with ease, having the ability to adjust mid-air after contact comes.
