had quite a week of basketball! He participated in the prestigious Nike Elite 100 in St. Louis against the best players in the country. Then he went out and dominated the Riverside Brookfield Live Event posting three 30 point games. We caught up with him to discuss his big week which began at Nike Elite 100.
“It went good for me playing against high-major guys at a high level all week. I got better at the point guard position learning from the coaches and players while I was there.”
He spoke about the areas he felt he excelled.
“I would say running the point and hitting open shots when I can. Running the point because I know that is what I am going to do at the next level.”
Then he turned his attention to Riverside Brookfield where he put together a quartet of big time showings with his high school team.
“This weekend has been good. I am hitting shots at a high clip. High school is a little bit different where I have to do a little bit more. I am ready for that load this year at Warren and preparing for a big July.”
What is the latest with recruiting?
“A lot of Big 10 schools are involved with schools being able to contact me now. Michigan State, Illinois, Iowa, Marquette, BYU, and South Carolina.”
He said one school is making him a real priority early in the process.
“I would say Northwestern. With Northwestern sending me mail every single day. Coach Lowery texting me every day. I really appreciate that and that can help in the long run.”
He rattled off his current offer list.
“Northwestern, Purdue, Indiana, DePaul, Illinois, Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois, and Toledo.”
Interested schools that haven’t offered include the following.
“South Carolina, Michigan State, Marquette, Iowa, Oklahoma, BYU, and UCLA.”
Recently took a trip to one Big 10 program which really impressed him.
“I visited Michigan State. I loved it a lot. I like the culture around the program. Coach Izzo is not going to lie to you. He is going to be straight up with you about how he feels. He wants tough guys. Michigan State is known for tough point guards and leadership point guards and I feel like I am one of those.”
