Here is a look back at the wing players from the Hoop Mountain event that impressed me most.

[player_tooltip player_id='2749984' first='James' last='Johnson'] Washington HS 2026

James is a stocky wing who caught my eye with his athleticism. Two power dunks that made me pay attention. He later showed his skillset beating guys with his handle to get to the basket. Johnson also made a couple of shots on the perimeter. He has good form and didn't hesitate one bit when he caught the pass. James plays with the right energy and aggression for a guy his size. A very underrated part of his game is how well he talked on defense and offense when he or someone had a mismatch. Could be a sleeper for D2s or low D1 programs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1552441' first='Josh' last='Abushanab'] Glenbard North 2026

Abushanab is the wing who we saw around the end of May with his travel team put on a show consistently. He plays different roles with his high school team and shows more versatility. Josh has improved the handle and looked good attacking the basket from the baseline and off the left wing area. He did a good job at mixing it up scoring and passing on his drives. With his size and ability to do more than one thing Josh can garner some schools interest during the live period.

[player_tooltip player_id='2531981' first='Cole' last='Kelly'] Neuqua Valley 2028

Arguably the best freshman in the state last year. Cole had a slow start but figured things out through the course of the game. He made shots early and then went on a cold streak as he started to drive to the basket. Kelly is a player who figures things out and makes adjustments during play. What I respected the most about Kelly is that he took the challenge of guarding the best player on the other team and held his own.

[player_tooltip player_id='2839878' first='Mason' last='Martin'] Neuqua Valley 2027

Martin was one of the eye-openers for me. He shoots the ball with consistency and he did it in some key moments for Neuqua. Mason has some size and the ability to put the ball on the deck if teams press up on him. He is a sleeper in the class.

[player_tooltip player_id='2415527' first='Colin' last='Cimino'] Riverside Brookfield 2026

A pick and pop wing player who plays hard on both sides of the ball. Colin made a pair of shots from the corner early. He has very good length for a high school wing. With added strength, Cimino can be a good addition to a small school after his senior year.
