One of the leading returning scorers in the area played well during the event. Down their starting PG from last year due to graduation he helped man the PG spot and looked comfortable in doing so, showcasing a solid ability to shoot it off the dribble and get teammates involved.

An improved handle and ability to get into the paint had Johnson looking like one of the better guards in attendance. He's already known for being a solid defender on the wing add in the evolving offensive repertoire and he looks like he is trending in the direction of being a college level guy.

McGrath was one of the guards I was really impressed with from the 910 area code. A high IQ guard who plays with a solid pace and the ability to knock down the three-ball efficiently from either guard spot. He was all over the floor for his Hoggard squad and helped lead them to the 1 seed in their respective pool.

Kinston has a plethora of guards who produce in some way or another for their current team, not many more important than Washington. The strong southpaw did a good job of getting to the paint where he continuously finished tough shot a at the rim. He also did his fair share on the glass for the smaller Kinston squad.

Williams was the guard who repeatedly got his team timely buckets when they needed it all weekend long. He has solid length and anticipation on the offensive end and made the plays when it mattered most. Northside eventually lost in the championship to Farmville Central but his play was a big reason why they got there.
