Colorado Live Showcase: 5 2027 Stars Ready to Shine

We're just two days out from the highly anticipated COLORADO LIVE Scholastic Showcase, and we'll be in the building to catch all the action. This event is loaded with talent, and the 2027 class is starting to take shape. In this preview, we're spotlighting five players from the rising group who we're eager to evaluate. Each has shown flashes early, and this weekend could be their breakout moment. Here are five names we expect to turn heads.    Connors is an athletic 6'2 guard who averaged 12.5 PPG last season. Connors had a stretch last season where he ranked among the top scorers in the class and will look to build on that with consistency. He's a confident three-point shooter with a quick release, but he he also creates in isolation, attacks closeouts, and finishes in transition. As Palmer Ridge's offensive focal point this season, increased consistency could elevate his stock. Expect him to draw some attention at the Colorado Live showcase as he looks to contribute on one of the talented individual teams.     I'll give you a sneak peek at the 2027 rankings, as Smith is making one of the major rankings jumps. He's one of the toughest point guards in the class. After sitting out a year due to transfer rules, he returns as a dynamic scorer and leader with a chip on his shoulder. Few guards match his blend of scoring ability, toughness, and competitive fire, and I expect that to be on display throughout the weekend. Expect him to make a strong statement at Colorado Live as one of the class's best point guards and top scorers, and I fully expect him to be a player that is on many radars sooner rather than later. We will be at Game 1 for Smith and will report back what we see!     Sekue is one of, if not the class's most versatile off-ball guard. Sekue made an impact early as a sophomore spark for a top-tier Rangeview program and will look to build on that in Year 3. He excels in transition, finishes through contact, and embraces defensive matchups with physicality and footwork. He's developing a more consistent perimeter shot and showed well at Section 7. Entering Year 3, he projects as a core contributor and two-way producer on one of the state's most competitive teams. He's a player whose athleticism jumps off the page, and we are thrilled to see how he plays this upcoming weekend.     Cobb developed into one of Denver South's most consistent performers late last season, finishing off multiple games in double figures. At 6'6, he provides interior scoring touch, rim protection, and floor running ability. While capable from three, he thrives inside with length and feel. As a sophomore he averaged 7.9 points and 4 rebounds a game. He teams up with Brody Sheperd on the [program_tooltip program_id='2075420' first='Colorado' last='Roughriders'] as a promising inside-out duo ready to lead, and that is a group that I am excited to get eyes on this weekend.     Franz is part of a cohesive Liberty group poised to make noise in his junior campaign. Franz is a confident, shot-ready guard. He finds scoring windows, competes on both ends, and embraces the dirty work. With a major offensive contributor gone, Franz will be relied on to elevate his game, rebound effectively, and produce in key moments. I expect him to do just that as he is a player with upside and has a point to prove this weekend. Excited to see how Liberty plays.
