There is no better event on the calendar from an evaluation or recruiting standpoint than the annual IBCA/IHSAA Charlie Hughes Showcase. This weekend, which is a live evaluation period for Division I college coaches, most of the best teams in the state of Indiana will descend on Carmel and Westfield High Schools for an absolutely excellent three days of basketball. Prep Hoops Indiana had boots on the ground coverage from the opening tip-off to the final buzzer all weekend long. Sunday has wrapped up and with that, here are my 5 standouts from the few teams I watched today.

If anyone came into this weekend not knowing who [player_tooltip player_id='2538892' first='Landon' last='Lampley'] was when they watched Pike, they sure found out quickly that he is one of the best 2028 prospects we have in the state. While he was great this weekend, Sunday it felt like he made his strongest impression being arguably the best player for Pike in both their games. The 6'5 versatile guard put on dunk after dunk in the games I watched and was one of the better players in the lane I saw. So athletic and can just make plays at a moment's notice. Really good stuff and I would expect offers to start coming in a hurry.

There was another Lampley brother that was at Carmel High School that made a statement on Sunday and that was 2027 Pike wing [player_tooltip player_id='2266897' first='Kenneth' last='Lampley']. While Landon does seemingly get a bit more attention, older brother Kenneth is more than capable of impacting a game and being a true force on the wing. Felt at times, it was Lampley who was making that extra effort play for Pike being really good on defense and on the glass where he would give them very consistent second chance point opportunities. Just like his younger brother, Kenneth is athletically versatile and can be a big time problem for any opposing team.

One of the better playmaking guard I saw on Sunday at Charlie Hughes was 2026 South Bend Riley guard Tyrese Jones. Jones, who is about 6'0, was really good at putting the ball on the floor and making plays for him and the guys around him. Thought he was real craft around the lane which opens things up for him to be crafty around the rim and finish. While he is a top guard in the instate 2026 class, he still feels a bit under-the-radar. He is certainty guard to watch in the South Bend area this season.

Before coming into this weekend, [player_tooltip player_id='1509229' first='Kai' last='McGrew'] was a player that I listed on our watch list and in my opinion, he lived up to that hype. Got a chance to watch McGrew a ton over the weekend and felt on Sunday, he put on a great showing in front of a host of coaches in attendance. McGrew was extremely good at providing great rebounding on both ends of the floor and finished through contact a ton while getting to the line. I wanted to see how much he would stretch the floor and he did pretty solidly hitting a few threes on the day. He looks to be fitting in just well with his new team.

Jeffersonville obviously needs to replace a host of D1 talent from their state championship team a season ago and while it will certainly take a long time do so, players like 2026 guard Terrance Nord showed that he can step up for the Red Devils this season. I saw Nord vs George Washington on Sunday and right away was impressed with his length on the ball and how he would use it on the defensive end. Thought he was impressive in the lane and in transition. Also showed a very smooth jumper and ability to do what was asked of him. A player in the HHC to keep an eye on.
