There is no better event on the calendar from an evaluation or recruiting standpoint than the annual IBCA/IHSAA Charlie Hughes Showcase. This weekend, which is a live evaluation period for Division I college coaches, most of the best teams in the state of Indiana will descend on Carmel and Westfield High Schools for an absolutely excellent three days of basketball. Prep Hoops Indiana has boots on the ground coverage from the opening tip-off to the final buzzer all weekend long. Saturday has wrapped up and with that, here are my 5 standouts from the few teams I watched today.

There may not have been a more impressive player in the gym at Carmel over the course of Saturday than Crown Point wing [player_tooltip player_id='1561617' first='Dikembe' last='Shaw']. Show was a big part of why the Bulldogs were able to go 4-0 on the weekend and was a major factor in Crown Point's big time win over Fishers. Shaw was excellent in the lane using his size and physicality to get to the rim and finish around the basket. He also had a nice pull-up game as well. Shaw continues to impress many that watch him with his skill.

I have stated just how big of a fan I am of the 2027 Bloomington North wing but I am telling you, [player_tooltip player_id='2381200' first='Levi' last='Lindeman'] is the real deal and only going to get better and better. Got a chance to watch him vs Cardinal Ritter and was once again impressed with his playmaking ability on the wing as well in the midrange. 15ft and in, he was really tough for Ritter to contest with his quickness and length to score in tough angles. His length and athleticism will always get the focus, but this guy can knock down jumpers as well.

I legit think you could make a strong case for [player_tooltip player_id='1560952' first='Evan' last='Harrell'] as one of the more improved players in the 2026 class. We always know he had an upside and while injuries did hinder him at times over the year, Harrell looks to be near full strength and ready to be that guy for Carmel. Motor is really high right now and he is making explosive plays around the rim. What really stands out for me is his ball handling for his size and ability to making plays on the dribble now. All signs point to him having a breakout senior season.

One of the more productive guys I feel like I saw on the day came from Terre Haute North and was 2027 wing [player_tooltip player_id='2869159' first='Blake' last='Hammond']. Always been a fan of Hammond from the times I have watched him but in the game I watched the Patriots vs Mt. Vernon-Fortville, I felt he was extremely productive on the offensive end and showed flashes of being a solid two-way player. Hammond was very good in transition coming down the lane off the ball and also made some really good passes to the cutter. Terre Haute North has a team that could make a deep run come the postseason and based off what I have seen at Charlie Hughes, Hammond will be a guy that can help lead them.

The most under-the-radar name from the list I gathered on Saturday comes from Jimtown High School, 2028 wing [player_tooltip player_id='2442377' first='Zander' last='Whitaker']. A player that just seemed to understand spacing, the 6'1 prospect just seemed to find a way to be at the right place at the right time. Scored well off of easy dish-offs, felts he was good around the lane, and showed a true jumper from behind the arc. I was really impressed with Jimtown in the game I watched and Whitaker was a big part of that.
