May AAU 17U Wing Standouts

These wing standouts have shown some real versatility and gap-filling potential with their hustle, rebounding, and defensive work. Whether it's impressive length, athleticism, or just plain old hard work, these guys have been showing out this month in AAU.    Edwards is a tenacious player around the rim on both ends who plays with infectious energy. He's a high-effort rebounder who can inspire runs with his work for second chances on the offensive end, has good length at 6-foot-5, and works hard to defend the paint by contesting and blocking shots. He's quick and long enough to take advantage of some gaps from the perimeter against bigs, and has shown how valuable his desire to do the dirty work is this spring.     Jones is a strong, super-athletic wing who played a key role defensively and around the paint this past winter for Shorecrest, and has continued to impress with his easy bounce and motor this spring with Uptown Jets. He's 6-foot-5 and has shown he can finish with power at the rim, is willing to grind for extra chances on the offensive glass, and will run the floor to finish or follow on the break. He's got a good enough shot to hit some open looks in the midrange and out to 3-point, and has the type of athleticism and physicality that could play a key role at the next level.     Huff is a great athlete at 6-foot-7 who excels on the defensive end with his ability to cover ground, change directions, and go up and get shots. He can control the paint with his shot blocking but is also pretty versatile thanks to his length and ability to recover once beat on the perimeter. He's a strong rebounder, can take up space in passing lanes and clog the middle, and has been a big presence on the defensive end this spring.     Sonntag is a great athlete who pairs that with excellent hustle. He works hard on defense, whether it's closing out three-point shooters, boxing out, chasing down loose balls, or sliding over to contest shots from the weak side at the rim. He's a kid who just reacts to what's happening out there and is great in scrambles or anticipating balls in his areas to get deflections or key tips on rebounds.     Ngono is one of the more explosive athletes in his class and although he only stands at 6-foot-4, he's able to make an impact around the rim while going up against bigger guys. His leaping ability is unreal and he uses it to attack the rim, attack rebounds, and block shots with unrelenting effort. He's just an awesome athlete who sticks to his strengths and plays with a high motor. He had two games in their last EYCL session that were near double-doubles, 8 points 7 rebounds vs All Ohio Red, and 8 points 10 rebounds vs Iso Joe.
