The spring is cruising along and summer will be here before we know it. With that said, PHD is looking back at the high school season and we are highlighting two Class B squads. Big congrats to [player_tooltip player_id='1144603' first='Gentry' last='Richter'] for being named District 2 and Region 1 Senior Athlete of the Year!!   Player Comments from Coach Jangula   "We were led by Seniors [player_tooltip player_id='1144603' first='Gentry' last='Richter'] & [player_tooltip player_id='2264596' first='Kash' last='Moser'] this year. They are versatile players that affect the game in a variety of ways. We will miss their leadership & communication that they provided. Brady Schick is another senior who had a solid year. Brady got progressively better every year in the program."   "Juniors: Peyton Masset & Larry Umber carved out a nice role for us this year off the bench. They provided energy, defense, & rebounding, which we needed. [player_tooltip player_id='2675574' first='Levi' last='Keeney'] got hurt the first game of the year and returned the last month of the season. It felt like he never got back into rhythm for us. Isaac Silvernagel is another player that was injured or battle sickness throughout the year. He is a great athlete that we look forward to seeing the floor next year."   "Sophomores: [player_tooltip player_id='2429661' first='Justin' last='Bosch'] had a great year for us. He is a great athlete and a knock shooter. He broke the school record for threes in a game with 10. [player_tooltip player_id='2237766' first='Jayden' last='Jochim'] is another young guard who has a natural feel for the game and is a nice playmaker."   "Freshman: [player_tooltip player_id='2413967' first='Brody' last='Richter'] was forced into action this year due to injuries and he responded to the challenge. By the end of the year, our opponents focused on stopping him. We look forward to seeing the growth of Brody, he is a gym rat." "We were obviously disappointed on how the season ended. We expect to compete for championships, and we fell short of that this year. I am proud of our effort and the bond we created."   PHD: Do you have any fun memories to share with us?   "Our bond this year was special. We celebrated each other's success. [player_tooltip player_id='1144603' first='Gentry' last='Richter'] was the happiest person in the locker room after [player_tooltip player_id='2429661' first='Justin' last='Bosch'] broke the three-point record."   PHD: How did your team overcome adversity?   "We faced a lot of adversity from injuries to sickness and our team always responded to challenges."   PHD: What are a few things your team improved on?   "Our ball movement improved vastly over the season."   PHD: Who are some role players that stood out?   "Brady Schick stood out for his ability to affect the game without having the ball in his hands."   "Larry Umber is another player that we could count on for his physicality and defense down low."   PHD: Can you talk about your seniors?   "As I said above, Gentry, Kash, & Brady will be missed for their leadership & communication. Obviously, we will also miss the skill they provide. Players like that are tough to replace."   PHD: Who are some up-and-comers to look out for?   "The obvious ones are [player_tooltip player_id='2429661' first='Justin' last='Bosch'] & [player_tooltip player_id='2413967' first='Brody' last='Richter']. One player that I look forward to carving out a role on varsity next year is freshmen Carson Wagner. He is an athletic forward who was a handful on scout team this year."   PHD: Who was your best defensive player?   "[player_tooltip player_id='1144603' first='Gentry' last='Richter'] was our best overall defender. He could guard all positions, was our lead communicator, & was our leading rebounding."   PHD: Any last comments/thoughts on the season?   "I am proud of the effort and dedication of our team. Although we fell short of our goals, we still have a lot to be proud of." Congrats to Jeremy Weinmeister from MPB on being named Coach of the Year!   PHD: How would you sum up the season?   "When take time and just look at the season, what a success! So the team loses two of the best offensive players, there is a change in head coaching, Philosophy, These boys, yea, it took some time but, wow look what they accomplished while being one of the best scoring teams ever in Thunder basketball!! They did what needed to be done to build a program now the young ones are excited and want to keep on the culture of the team."    PHD: Do you have any fun memories you want to share with us?   "The first time [player_tooltip player_id='2861449' first='Gage' last='Hofmann'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2253958' first='Drew' last='Hofmann'] dunked the basketball, the hard work they were able to see in that one moment, Roper scoring 30, Chase having a triple double, [player_tooltip player_id='2022583' first='Terek' last='Kinzell'] having shut down defense while being one of the top offensive players, Camden Cassula game where went off 12, 6, and 6, Kameron Bodvig having game of his life and changing the course of season, Jared Moser jumping with energy when the team was about to shock everyone and win Districts! What these boys accomplished in winning Districts, the smile on there faces meant everything!!"    PHD: How did your team overcome adversity?   "We were scrappy the whole season when people didn't think they could do it. These boys came together and allowed themselves to become heros for a moment in the school. But they did it with humility and can't ask for more."   PHD: What are a few things your team improved on?   "We became better on defense, and driving the ball to the basket. and that is why we succeeded."   PHD: Who are some role players that stood out to you?   "Kameron Bodvig came in, started some but kept improving, became best 3-point shooter. Camden Cassula gave the breaks to starters that needed it, not what he maybe wanted but you can't win without a guy like Camden. [player_tooltip player_id='2253958' first='Drew' last='Hofmann'] a freshman, with important roles was 4th best scorer, 3rd in rebounds, 3rd in assists, as well as 3rd in steals. Future is bright for him!"   PHD: Can you talk about your seniors?   "Those 4 boys were key to building the culture, will miss their work put in. The years of not getting a chance and than they shined. How I wish they could have went out at State and that hurts. They will be missed but their legacy will ride on."   PHD: Who are some up-and-comers to look out for?   "JR, [player_tooltip player_id='2253972' first='Chase' last='Ova'], [player_tooltip player_id='2022583' first='Terek' last='Kinzell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2861449' first='Gage' last='Hofmann']. [player_tooltip player_id='2253958' first='Drew' last='Hofmann'] will be a force and an all-around talent who will break scoring records. Trevin Behm has the ability to drive and be the Robin that the teams needs. [player_tooltip player_id='2861451' first='Daryl' last='Olson'] will be the force and will make teams remember him."   PHD: Who was your best defensive player?   "We had two of them. [player_tooltip player_id='2802044' first='Roper' last='Foerderer'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2022583' first='Terek' last='Kinzell'], they both had ability to shut down top players and when you have two that is impressive. The speed, hustle, and scrappy style play kept them dominant."    PHD: Who was your top interior player?   "That would be [player_tooltip player_id='2861449' first='Gage' last='Hofmann']. His spin move is what players should want and he learned this year to be a BIG man. Now, with more confidence, he will be a bigger force."   PHD: Any last comments/thoughts on the season?   "It was an honor for me to be their coach. These young men are impressive and I am so proud of them. To be able to coach with my wife Shawna, wow those are times that will forever be remembered! Joel who also helped coach, a friend will have for life and love talking basketball with him as well as ranch stuff. Damon Bosche, the AD helped me in ways most will ever know unless they do movie. The town, Thank You for caring for me!"
