Big Shots came to Richmond with Paul Biancardi at the Henrico Sports Complex, bringing with them some of the top teams from across VA and the entire east coast. With so much talent in the building, we'll take a look over the next few days of some of the best players from the event. Here's a look at some of the 17U forward standouts from VA.

It seems like there isn't an event I attend that Allmond is playing in that I can't put him in as a standout, as the top 50 national prospect just impacts winning in so many different ways. The 6'8” forward showed his ability to do a little bit of everything, as he brought a ton of toughness in the paint on both ends of the floor, while also continuing to show his improved perimeter skillset that makes him an even tougher matchup than he's been in the past. He was shooting it so well they were actually running plays for him to come off of pin downs to shoot threes, he showed his ability to work off the bounce in isolation, he lived above the rim and finished with authority and he was excellent on the glass and defensively too.

Ladarius Givan | 6'9” C | [program_tooltip program_id='2226307' first='Team' last='Loaded VA']

Givan is one of the most talented big men in the country, and when he's engaged like he was during this event he's a big time difference maker that is a lot to handle and hard to matchup with. The 6'9” Mississippi State commit is a freak athlete for his size, as he showed his ability to run the floor like a guard while also being able to play above the rim offensively and he had quite a few impressive blocks defensively. He showed his strength and ability to play through contact in the paint, he stretched the floor with his shooting ability and had spurts where he was unstoppable when his motor was running well.

Jordan is a player we've been watching for years now, as the 6'9” big man from Hopewell is an absolute load in the paint and he continues to show improvements in his body and in his game as well. He's somewhat of a throw back big in a good way, as he clogged the paint on the defensive end and he had no qualms about getting physical and putting players on the deck and making them earn it at the free throw line. He looked like he was in great shape as he was able to play for longer stretches while being productive, he showed good hands and touch around the rim and he made opposing bigs work for everything they got on the way to the 17U Orange championship.

[player_tooltip player_id='1494165' first='Jayson' last='Peterson'] | 6'8” PF | [program_tooltip program_id='2078456' first='DC' last='Premier']

Peterson is one of those very intriguing prospects who has a different type of game that is tough to matchup with, and his style of play actually fits a lot of systems at the next level with his ability to play inside-out. He was great in transition getting up and down the floor and using his athleticism to finish above the rim, and he was good as a trail big with his ability to knock down shots from deep too. He showed a solid perimeter skillset with the ability to take defenders off the bounce, as well as a solid post game and he hit the offensive glass for easy put backs too.

[player_tooltip player_id='1588109' first='Finley' last='Billy'] | 6'8” PF | Washington Warriors

Billy has been a staple of the Prospect U/Washington Warriors program since he was in eighth grade, and the St. John's forward fits the mold of the classic stretch four that so many programs use now-a-days. He made tough shots from deep off the catch with ease, punishing teams who decided to go zone and opening lanes for their talented guards to get in the paint and make plays. He showed good switch ability on the defensive end of the floor, attacked closeouts and got to spots off the bounce and he finished well around the rim too.

Landon Lipscomb | 6'5” PF | Virginia Grind Select

I randomly ended up at both Virginia Grind Elite and a Virginia Grind Select games looking for some sleepers out of the Harrisonburg area, and within the first five or so minutes it was easy to see that Lipscomb is probably a force for his Broadway High School team. The 6'5” forward showed great strength and good footwork in the paint, he moved well off the ball and particular after setting screens, he showed the ability to handle in transition and he showed range out to 18 feet while owning the glass as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2459359' first='Jisaiah' last='Bryant'] | 6'5” PF | [program_tooltip program_id='2227208' first='Hill' last='City Crash']

Bryant is coming off an All State selection at Liberty Christian this past year, and is in the conversation as the best player in the Lynchburg area which he showed by being very productive throughout the event. The 6'5” forward is a load to handle as he already looks like he's been a college weight room for years, but throw in his perimeter skillset and it makes him a nightmare matchup. He got downhill aggressively and finished through contact with ease, he showed his ability to stretch the floor off the catch, he attacked the glass on both ends and his relentless motor made him one of the most productive players in the gym at all times.
