-Billy made some big plays in both halves for his team to keep the game close in a big rivalry matchup. Billy sprinted ahead to collect a runout pass over the top to finish with the and1 double clutch lay off the window in transition, snagged an offensive rebound and scored off the mid-post fader, hit a contested one-dribble pull after the ball swung around the horn to him, and was communicating on the defensive end of the floor at a high level to help direct traffic for a young Bullis team. His ability to space the floor as a perimeter shooter forces his defender to stay attached on the perimeter and miss help side rotations on the back end that lead to easier buckets for his teammates–allowing him to impact the game even on nights where the shots aren’t falling.

Finley started the game hot against Malvern Prep to help Bullis keep pace early on. The offensive gameplan started to shift as the game called for different situations, but that did not shift his focus. Finley stayed ready and consistent throughout, making short looks and rebounding well. I liked the way Billy defended the rim as well, deterring a few shots and affecting the attempts at the rim. Ended the game stringing together a few baskets, brought his team back through some runs and helped Bullis get the edge over Malvern Prep in the closing minutes. Shot well from the field and knocked down his open looks at the three.

The Penn Signee continue to impress with his ability to play hard on both ends of the floor using his length and all-around high IQ forward that can be a mismatch for a traditional big guy. Billy is comfortable stretching the floor and making threes at a high rate. Attacked the rim as a popper on ball-screens and would post up smaller guys. Intrigued with Bratton’s overall game and one to monitor. Finish the game with 9 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 block.

-Billy transferred into the IAC powerhouse and was a pretty seamless addition for a Bulldogs team that really needs his shooting ability in the frontcourt. Billy’s release point and fluid shooting motion make him a potent weapon in Coach Kelley’s system and figures to get a nice boost in production this weekend as Bullis is missing a few key pieces in the backcourt. If Billy can prove that he can guard his yard, space the floor, and finish his opportunities in the paint– I expect the Patriot League schools that have been sniffing around to pull the trigger on an offer.

fits in nicely with Bullis in his first action with his new school. Finley has been efficient and effective, and even in a loss, he was great for Bullis. Finley is an outstanding shooter and plays well off the Bullis guards. Finley does a good job finishing inside, and something that stood out to me is what he’s done as a passer. He does a good job finding cutters and has great vision for a forward. Finley had 18 points and 11 rebounds.

has been highly impactful in summer league. Finley had some nice finishes in the paint, and he did a great job getting to the line. I love Finley’s ability to step out and knock down threes, which he did today. Finley finished with 18 in a Bullis blowout win.

-Billy performed well in new threads with Bullis after transferring in after the season. His two threes sandwiched around a big rebound after a missed opponent free throw made it a 2-possession game with just under a minute remaining in the contest. The marquee trait of shooting should be huge for a Bullis offense in need of the spacing as they head into the season looking to replace all 5 starters, including two All-MET performers. Love that he is understanding rotations and the importance of remaining vertical to force tough shots without drawing fouls. Want to see him move to space and time backdoor reads to give himself easier looks at the rim on the offensive end of the floor.
