We recently updated our class of 2027 rankings, with a lot of new players as we learn more about the class as they grow and develop. Things have shaken up quite a bit, with over 25 new names being added to the rankings.

Here's a look at part two of the top shooting guards and small forwards in the sophomore class rankings.

15) [player_tooltip player_id='2353668' first='Kamdon' last='Brangman-Cain'] | 6'1” SG | Gainesville (#39 Overall)

Brangman-Cain has shown a lot of promise early in his high school career, making an impact on both ends of the floor and put up some impressive numbers through two years with Gainesville. He's natural athlete who gets downhill using his long strides and ability to cover ground without needing many dribbles, he's an athletic finisher in transition, he can hit shots from multiple levels off the catch and he uses his length and athleticism defensively.

14) [player_tooltip player_id='2470581' first='Antonio' last='Mack'] | 6'2” SG | North Cross (#37 Overall)

Mack had a big time sophomore season leading North Cross to a VISAA D-II Final Four appearance as one of the top scoring backcourt duos in the state, and he'll have a chance to get on college radars playing with Team Durant this year. The 6'2” off guard is a natural athlete who is strong and explosive when he gets downhill, he can play on the ball and get to the rim, he can work off the ball to get open and make shots from deep and he has a go-getter type of mentality you can't teach.

13) [player_tooltip player_id='2548299' first='Isaiah' last='Savage'] | 6'2” SG | St. Michael (#36 Overall)

Savage is one of the more intriguing and high ceiling prospects in this class, as the 6'2” wing is absurdly athletic and uses that athleticism to make plays others can't, and he was huge in helping St. Michael to the VISAA D-III Final Four. Savage flies when he takes off and makes him a highlight reel threat every time he's out in transition, he rebounds well for his position, he makes plays defensively all over the floor and if he can polish his skillset he'll be an impressive player moving forward.

12) [player_tooltip player_id='1574509' first='Jayden' last='Brown'] | 6'3” SG | STAB (#29 Overall)

Brown reclassified to the 2027 class last year, and the 6'3” shooting guard has been one of the more improved players in Charlottesville, if not the entire state, over the past few years at STAB. He's built to play basketball with long arms and is a good athlete both vertically and moving his feet defensively, he's a lock down defender who loves to take the challenge of guarding the other team's best player, he has improved a lot as a shooter from deep and he's able to impact the game without needing the ball very much.

11) [player_tooltip player_id='2422471' first='Derrius' last='Jones'] | 6'6” SF | Blue Ridge (#26 Overall)

Jones is another high ceiling prospect who reclassified to the 2027 class over the summer, and much like his brother he'll have a chance to really improve as part of a Blue Ridge program that is known for player development. The 6'6” wing checks the boxes with his physical frame and natural explosive athleticism, he runs the floor and plays with a great motor, he can defend multiple positions and he has a base skillset that should improve moving forward.

10) [player_tooltip player_id='2353620' first='Troy' last='Tomlin'] | 6'3” SF | Paul VI (#24 Overall)

Tomlin dropped in the rankings not because of anything he did, but more because he's picked up football and is trending toward a future on the gridiron with his elite frame and athleticism, but so far in the early AAU season he's shown he's still an elite basketball prospect too. The 6'3” wing is a superb athlete who plays above the rim effortlessly when he's out in transition, he has all the tools to be a lock down defender, he can knock down open shots from deep and he has a gritty style to his play as well.

9) [player_tooltip player_id='2470566' first='Brady' last='Burnette'] | 6'3” SG | St. Chris (#23 Overall)

Burnette saw a dramatic increase in usage and production from his freshman to his sophomore season at St. Chris, and so far in the young AAU season he has put up good numbers as well with [program_tooltip program_id='2226307' first='Team' last='Loaded VA'] 16U. The 6'3” two guard has not only grown but gotten more athletic over the last few years as he's grown into his body, he's a top notch shooter who can drill it with range and on the move, he is a high IQ player who makes good decisions and he shows some toughness as well.

8) [player_tooltip player_id='2353675' first='Noah' last='Farley'] | 6'1” SG | Floyd County (#21 Overall)

Farley was a First Team All State selection as a sophomore and was an All Region selection as a freshman, as he's put up extremely impressive numbers as one of the top scorers in SWVA and helped lead Floyd to a state semifinal appearance this season. The 6'1” off guard is a lights out shooter from deep with range and great confidence to take shots in transition, he can set his feet and knock it down on the move, he can attack closeouts and finishes well at the rim and he has good instincts to jump passing lanes defensively.

7) [player_tooltip player_id='2470557' first='Dean' last='Williams'] | 6'4” SG | Catholic (#16 Overall)

Williams is one of the most intriguing young prospects in the 757, as he played a big part in Catholic having a very successful season and he will step into an even bigger role next season. At 6'4” with long arms he checks the boxes for the next level physically already, and he has an advanced skillset for a player his age too. He can score the ball from all three levels and works well off the ball to get open, he's a good secondary ball handler who can make plays for himself and others, and he uses his length to challenge shots and gets deflections on the defensive end too.

6) Donnell Jarrett Jr. | 6'1" SG | Woodside (#14 Overall)

As we mentioned in our stock risers article, Jarrett was forced to step into a bigger role this season for the Wolverines due to injuries, and he showed he's been ready with consistent play, particularly against the top opponents they played. He's a talented scoring guard who can fill it up in a number of different ways, and as he continues to grow he'll draw a lot of eyes from college coaches. He works well off the ball with great footwork to set his feet and make shots on the move, he can put it on the deck and get to spots in the midrange and at the rim, he brings a lot of intensity and energy on both ends and he's a good athlete who is still growing into his body moving forward.
