<p>The 2024-25 season was full of tight and competitive matchups and explosive individual performances and one of if not the best conference in New Jersey, the Union County Conference, provided much of that throughout the course of the regular season. With the high school season fully wrapped up and post season champions crowned, let's take another look at some guards that turned heads with strong individual seasons in the Union County Conference's Watchung Division. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">On his way to averaging 12.6 PPG and 4.2 RPG as just a freshman, [player_tooltip player_id='2504886' first='Malik' last='Moore'] proved to be reliable piece for Union Catholic's rotation. Throughout the course of the season, Moore showcased his ability to take his defender off the dribble and be an aggressive downhill attacker, using his strong frame to finish in different ways with both hands around the basket. Moore also showcased his capability to shoot it from distance both off the catch and off the dribble. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">An absolute lights out shooter from the perimeter, Luke Schorr continued to show much of what's boosted his stock over the last couple of years. Showcasing his smooth and compact release, Schorr displayed his versatility as a shooter— shooting it off the catch, coming off screens, in transition, and shooting it off the dribble. Schorr also showed flashes of being able to put the ball on the floor a little bit more this season, coming off those screens and pindowns when defenses ran him off the line. Schorr averaged 11.6 PPG this season for Union Catholic.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1859529' first='Tyshawn' last='Pearson'] proved to be an effective two way lead guard for this year's Westfield squad. Averaging 11.0 PPG, the combo guard displayed his ability to put pressure on the rim— taking his defender off the dribble and finishing at the rim. Defensively, Pearson displayed his ability to be a tenacious POA defender and pressure the ball out on the perimeter. Along side his 11.0 PPG average, Pearson also averaged 2.7 SPG. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Another lights out shooter in the UCC's Watchung Division, Max McEacheron showcased his ability to be a lethal threat from three point range. Thriving primarily as a catch and shoot shooter, McEacheron displayed smooth shooting mechanics. Shooting the three ball at a high clip, McEacheron had multiple games throughout the season with 3+ made threes.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Behind a 11.4 PPG average, Zach App proved to be a reliable source of offense for this year's Westfield roster. Possessing a strong frame, Epp showcased his ability to be an aggressive downhill attacker off dribble drives. Epp also displayed his ability to finish at the rim in different ways and with both hands as well. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Operating as the primary ball handler for Linden's offense this season, [player_tooltip player_id='1595682' first='Jayden' last='Holman'] averaged 13.6 PPG as the Tigers' lead guard. Through many explosive scoring performances this season, Holman showcased his ability to be an aggressive downhill attacker off the dribble that not only generates paint touches but also showcases different finishes at the rim while also showing flashes of being a reliable shooter from three point range. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Shouldering most of the offensive production for this year's Union Farmers squad, [player_tooltip player_id='2812475' first='Carl' last='Matala'] proved to be a reliable shot maker. Behind a 14.2 PPG average, Matala showcased his ability to make shots from three point range off the catch while also showcasing an ability to attack his defender off the dribble and get to the rim. Matala also showed his ability to play out the PnR game, often times taking what the defense gave him— finding his in between game and knocking down mid range jump shots or at times finding the open man when the defense collapsed. </p>
