— Aberdeen, SD

Prep Hoops Dakotas will look at some key standouts from the four advancing teams at the State B's in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Those four teams were Castlewood, Viborg-Hurley, St. Mary's, and Wessington Springs. Plenty of talent to talk about.

Laue has been the most dominant player and a matchup nightmare for opposing teams in the state B's. He's affecting both sides of the ball as an interior scorer and shot-affecting and shot-blocking force on D. Highly efficient scoring at the hoop and pulling down key rebounds for Castlewood to secure possession of the ball. Two double-doubles in as many games for Laue. He's signed with DII University of Sioux Falls.

Keszler has seen his stock rise drastically in the state B's and has taken things to another level in the first two days of the state B tournament. He's playing a confident and free-flowing game, showing an impressive playmaking and shot-making arsenal. His ball-handling and creation with his handle has been eye-popping. He's been easily getting himself space and rising high for knockdown jumpers. Keszler is showing a ton of athletic pop. His stock has risen in a big way and his new upcoming ranking will reflect that. I think he's proven to be a top 30 2025 prospect and a next-level scoring point guard.

Viborg-Hurley is in the championship game, and a lot of that has to do with how Hanson performed versus St. Mary's. Obviously, he's a factor in the paint and near the rim, but he also hit some difficult midrange fall-away jumpers. He played through contact on multiple occasions. Had some key rebounds late in the St. Mary's game.

Admittedly, I moved Schroedermeier too far back in the 2026 rankings. He's looking very strong physically with an impressive and muscular frame. I think I undersold his defensive and lockdown ability. Elite movement and athletic pop off the ground. He's been in attack mode at the state tournament and is looking explosive and extremely quick in transition, taking it at opponents at the rim.

Niederbaumer has had a stock-rising Senior season and his ranking will need to be adjusted for the better. He's showing drastically improved skills with the ball and can handle the ball at a much higher level. His three is improved and he hit some big threes against St. Mary's to advance to the championship game. Looks very agile and runs very well for a lengthy 6'6” prospect. Owen had a massive block at the rim against St. Mary's with about 1:20 left in the game that led into a Viborg-Hurley possession.

Beckman showed is three-point ability and endless range versus Viborg-Hurley. He carried the St. Mary's offense with contested step-back threes and DEEP range threes. I think it's him or [player_tooltip player_id='1406985' first='Logan' last='Collette'] as the top three-point shooters in the state, with Beckman a little more self-creation as a three-point shooter. He broke the St. Mary's school record for threes made in a season, and currently sits at 87 makes.

Flowers is an absolute workhorse. He shows up with 100% effort every game. He's a prospect that you wish were 3-4 inches taller because he would be a major recruit with his installed motor. He ran into a tough matchup with Castewood's Laue who stands at 6'9”.
Kamden is a Sophomore starting guard for Castlewood, playing alongside his brother Jamison. He's a true 6'3” and he's impressed me with his play in the first two games of the state tournament. The big stage has not affected him and he's played clean and impactful. Good overall size for a guard, playing a composed game where he can still make plays and his offensive game and his ability needs to be accounted for.
