There were 403 teams that started the journey to Gainbridge Fieldhouse last week. Then, on Saturday, we crowned 64 Sectional Champions. We will cut that field in half once again this coming Saturday in the Regional round. As always, Prep Hoops Indiana had boots on the ground coverage throughout Sectional week and will be hitting a handful of different gyms for Regional action as well. As we did prior to Sectional week, we will spend this week previewing the 32 Regional matchups that will be played on Saturday, March 15th. Here is our preview of the four Regionals that make up the Class 1A South.

Best Game

The Seymour Regional features Prep Hoops Indiana Class 1A #2 Orleans against #6 Christian Academy. Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1297109' first='Rylan' last='Crocker'] has been a big part of the Bulldogs' success this season leading 21-4 Orleans in scoring at 16.2 points per game. Junior forward [player_tooltip player_id='2813537' first='Alex' last='DeWitt'] has had an excellent season as well putting up 13.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. For Christian Academy, Marian signee [player_tooltip player_id='1297066' first='Joshua' last='Renfro'] averages 21.1 points per game and is one of the best pure shooters in the state of Indiana. Fellow senior [player_tooltip player_id='1749327' first='David' last='Cook'] adds 14.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Whoever wins this matchup will have a real chance to make it to Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Under-the-Radar Game

If you look at the records you wouldn't expect Prep Hoops Indiana Class 1A #4 Hauser, at 23-3, to have much of an issue with 8-15 Indianapolis Lutheran. However, this is not your average 8-15 team. For starters, many of the best players for the Saints also play football which leads to a tough start to the season. Injuries and playing an incredibly tough schedule are part of the subpar record as well. Lutheran has not lost to a Class 1A team this season. The 2023 Class 1A State Champions are a legitimate contender in this game led by Butler football recruit [player_tooltip player_id='1539996' first='Lonte' last='Ward'], senior wing [player_tooltip player_id='2053660' first='Cayden' last='Loescher'], and freshman forward [player_tooltip player_id='2539953' first='Jarrett' last='Harris'] among others. As for Hauser, they have a trio of seniors averaging in double figures. Collin Buck (14.3), Ledger Gelflus (12.8), and [player_tooltip player_id='1381454' first='Taeshaun' last='Tungate'] (11.3) lead a talented, balanced attack for the Jets.
