DIVISION 3

Sectional 1
No 5 seed Amery (20-7) vs. No. 1 seed Elk Mound (23-4) at Somerset (1:30 p.m.)

Elk Mound had a 21-point lead over Berlin in the second half and then had to go overtime to beat the Indians in the sectional semifinals. The Mounders will need to slow down Amery's prolific brother tandem of senior [player_tooltip player_id='1540033' first='Carter' last='Wollan'] and sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2143926' first='Keaton' last='Wollan'] in order to punch its ticket to the state tournament. Carter is averaging 29.4 ppg while Keaton contributes 20.4 ppg. Amery 58, Elk Mound 53

Sectional 2
No. 1 seed Freedom (26-1) vs. No. 3 seed Little Chute (21-6) at Seymour (1:00 p.m.)

Freedom had little trouble beating Little Chute during North Eastern Conference play as the Irish posted victories of 68-52 and 59-45. The Irish have dominated three playoff opponents, winning by an average of 28.3 ppg. This game won't be nearly as easy for Freedom as Little Chute is playing good basketball and has an aggressive defense that can stymie opponents. Still, it appears [player_tooltip player_id='2492814' first='Drew' last='Kortz'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1847792' first='Donovan' last='Davis'] of Freedom have an excellent change of getting to Madison. Freedom 62, Little Chute 51

Sectional 3
No. 2 seed Wisconsin Dells (22-5) vs. No. 1 seed Lake Mills (23-4) at Baraboo (1:00 p.m.)

Lake Mills avenged a regular-season loss to Edgerton with a 62-50 win over the Crimson Tide in the sectional semifinals, the L-Cats seventh win in a row. [player_tooltip player_id='1412881' first='AJ' last='Bender'] and Co. move on to play red-hot Wisconsin Dells, which got 22 points from senior [player_tooltip player_id='2493653' first='Jaren' last='Ward'] in its 72-63 win over Platteville on Thursday. Wisconsin Dells beat Lodi 50-40 in a regional final, a team Lake Mills swept by scores of 69-45 and 52-51. Lake Mills 64, Wisconsin Dells 51

Sectional 4
No. 5 seed Carmen Northwest (17-10) vs. No. 1 seed Milwaukee Academy of Science (22-1) at Brown Deer (1:00 p.m.)

Carmen Northwest has some impressive playoff victories under its belt, beating University School, Dominican and Oostburg, among others. Senior guard Javantae Edwards is a jet on the court and can finish around the rim as well as hit perimeter shots. Academy of Science is one of the state's best teams and beat a very good Racine Lutheran squad by 15 in the sectional semifinals. Academy of Science 88, Carmen Northwest 77

DIVISION 4

Sectional 1
No. 2 seed Cumberland (21-5) vs. No. 1 seed Aquinas (23-3) at Eau Claire North (7:00 p.m.)

Cumberland has won eight consecutive games and features one of the state's truly elite players in 6-foot-10 senior [player_tooltip player_id='1853648' first='Gavin' last='Gores'], a Wyoming recruit who is averaging 35.0 points and 14.1 rebounds. The Beavers tied Northwestern for the Heart O'North title. Aquinas beat Luther in its sectional semifinal contest and won a share of the Mississippi Valley crown with Holmen. Contending with Gores will be a challenge for the Blugolds, but they have very good balance and have played a strong schedule. Aquinas 67, Cumberland 64

Sectional 2
No. 1 seed Auburndale (24-3) vs. No. 1 seed Bonduel (25-1) at Stevens Point (1:00 p.m.)

Auburndale has surpassed the expectations of many throughout the season, which really shouldn't come as a major surprise since coach Chad Weinfurter is one of the best in the state. Auburndale beat Marawood South rival Stratford in the sectional semifinals behind 23 points from senior [player_tooltip player_id='2629803' first='Blake' last='Raab']. Bonduel won the Central Wisconsin East crown and has 26 wins and just one loss behind an athletic team that has some size, skill and quickness. Bonduel 56, Auburndale 54

Sectional 3
No. 1 seed Mineral Point (26-1) vs. No. 2 seed Marshall (21-6) at Verona (7:00 p.m.)

Mineral Point went to Marshall and registered a 69-43 victory on Feb. 22. Lots of things would have to change in order for Marshall to reverse that score this time around. But that's the beauty of basketball. Things can change and change quickly. Still, Mineral Point is the defending Division 4 state champion and 26-1 for a reason. Mineral Point 64, Marshall 55

Sectional 4

No. 7 seed Cedar Grove (16-12) vs. No. 6 seed The Prairie School (13-15) at Whitefish Bay (5:00 p.m.)

Can't imagine many had these two teams playing for the Sectional 4 championships. Lots of good teams got beat in this sectional and both Cedar Grove and The Prairie School knocked off some of those schools. Cedar Grove got a half-court shot from [player_tooltip player_id='2822671' first='Thomas' last='Wiesner'] to beat a 24-3 Roncalli squad, 66-63, in overtime in its sectional semifinal while The Prairie School also had to go into an extra session in order to turn back Cambridge (23-4), 57-52. Cedar Grove 63, The Prairie School 57

DIVISION 5

Sectional 1
No. 1 seed Turtle Lake (20-5) vs. No. 4 seed Rib Lake (21-7) at Altoona (1:00 p.m.)

Turtle Lake coach Angela Weber would become the first female to be the head coach of a boys' basketball team at the WIAA State Tournament should the Lakers beat Rib Lake. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='2406762' first='Brandon' last='Wagner'] caught a side inbounds pass along the baseline, turned and fired up a three-point shot with just a couple of seconds left in the Lakers' 51-50 win over Spring Valley in the sectional semifinal. The ball popped straight up into the air, hit the front and back of the rim and fell through. Wagner was also fouled on the play and he made the foul shot with :01.9 left for a four-point play that helped Turtle Lake move on. Rib Lake beat Marawood North counterpart Prentice 44-41 in the sectional semifinals to win the rubber match of their outings this winter. Turtle Lake 53, Rib Lake 49

Sectional 2
No. 1 seed Almond-Bancroft (23-5) vs. No. 1 seed Sheboygan Lutheran (23-4) at Pulaski (7:00 p.m.)

Almond-Bancroft got 14 points from [player_tooltip player_id='1544739' first='Ayden' last='Phillips'] in its sectional semifinal conquest of Pacelli. In the process, Phillips moved into 11th place on Wisconsin All-Time scoring list 2,418 career points. He is 24 points behind Kaukauna graduate Jordan McCabe for 10th place. He will need to be very productive in order for the Eagles to beat a very good Sheboygan Lutheran squad that tied Kohler and Oostburg for the Big East South title. Sheboygan Lutheran 70, Almond-Bancroft 59

Sectional 3
No. 1 seed Cochrane-Fountain City (25-2) vs. No. 2 seed Royall (28-0) at La Crosse Logan (1:00 p.m.)

Royall remained the lone team in Wisconsin without a loss with a very hard-earned 51-48 victory over North Crawford in the sectional semifinals. Cochrane-Fountain City got past defending Division 5 state champion Columbus Catholic in its sectional semifinal. Royall 55, Cochrane-Fountain City 47

Sectional 4
No. 2 seed Abundant Life Christian (22-6) vs. No. 2 seed Oakfield (21-7) at Portage (4:00 p.m.)

Abundant Life Christian beat a very good Southwestern team, 72-68, in its sectional semifinal while Oakfield posted a convincing 54-27 win over Cambria-Friesland. Abundant Life shared the Trailways South crown with Deerfield while Oakfield won the Trailways East crown. Abundant Life Christian 66, Oakfield 63
