Expert Analysis
Mark Miller | Prep Hoops Scout
Gores is far more than a big player putting up big numbers simply because he’s at a small school up north. The Wyoming recruit also is a versatile 6-foot-10 forward who can score inside and outside, rebound, pass, finish above the rim and pass out of double teams. He is a consistent performer on a team that needs him to put up big numbers in order to win. Gores has helped Cumberland to a 9-4 record by averaging 35.3 points, 14.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists.

There isn’t a player in Wisconsin with the scoring/rebounding combination on a nightly basis of Gores. As a junior, the markedly improved forward averaged 28.6 points and 13.1 rebounds while helping Cumberland to a 14-12 record under coach Brian Dutton. He figures to match or even surpass those totals as a senior as he has grown an inch or so, added some weight to his long frame and continued to round out his versatility on offense. A good perimeter shooter with three-point range, Gores can play inside and outside, although he most likely will spend the majority of his time this winter in the paint dominating opponents in the Heart O’North Conference. The Wyoming recruit is a fun player to watch because of his effort, his diversified skillset and his hardhat approach to getting better.

No player in Sectional 1 can dominate a game like Gores, a versatile big man who can score inside and outside, block shots and rebound with the best of them. He averaged 28.6 points and 13.1 rebounds as a junior while also blocking 33 shots. Gores has a strong spring/summer with the Wisconsin Playmakers program and even earned an offer from Illinois to go along with his boatload of offers from mid-major programs. In the end, though, Gores opted to commit to Wyoming as he had built up a strong relationship with new Cowboys’ coach Sundance Wicks when Wicks coached at Green Bay in 2023-24. Gores has improved his strength and his aggressiveness, and his skill level has always been a strength. Look for him to have a monster senior season for coach Brian Dutton and the Beavers.

Like Womack and others on this list, Gores was outstanding during the spring/summer club season. The 6-foot-10 forward excelled for the Wisconsin Playmakers and showed the ability to move around the court and impact the game not only in the post, but also with his ability to pass, shoot and set screens out on the perimeter. Gores owns DI offers from Green Bay, Illinois and Wyoming, among others, and has received recent interest from De Paul and Minnesota. Gores has scored 1,440 points in three seasons at Cumberland, which competes in the Heart O’North Conference in northern Wisconsin. He is a dominant force for the Beavers as he averaged 28.6 ppg as a junior.
