The 2024-25 SCHSL State Championships began on February 27th and continued through March 8th at the Florence Center in Florence, South Carolina. This was a great opportunity to have some of the best the state has to offer under the same roof. The second State Champion crowned was Keenan High School in Class 3A. Check out my Class 3A All State Championships Team, featuring two players from the State Champion, one from the runner-up, and one from each of the Upper State and Lower State runners-up:

[player_tooltip player_id='2433116' first='Antoine' last='Caughman Jr'] (Keenan) - You wouldn't have been able to tell Caughman Jr was a Freshman by the way he stepped up for his team in Florence. He was arguably their best player across the two State-Championship Games totaling 34 points. Antoine was the only consistent option for the Raiders from behind the arc, hitting three of their four combined makes. He can make plays off the dribble thanks to his length and strength, which also happen to be two key parts of his defensive game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1276361' first='Brian' last='Sumpter'] (Keenan) - Wofford signee and Top 5 Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1276361' first='Brian' last='Sumpter'] went out on top with a State Championship in his final season. Sumpter is an elite rim protector at this level and helps dictate the style of offense opponents can play because of this attribute. He didn't have his best scoring day against Loris in the semifinal, but he bounced back with 10 points on 4-6 FG in the final. Brian showed flashes of his true potential against Powdersville including a quick drop-step score in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id='2299729' first='Von' last='Burton'] (Powdersville) - Von had big scoring games in each of the Patriots' outings in Florence. In the Upper State Championship win he put up 15, attacking the rim frequently and adding key steals and deflections on the defensive end. In the State Championship loss, he had a game-high 19 points along with 5 steals while displaying athleticism, body control, soft touch, and a lack of fear in getting to the basket. Burton is one of my favorite unsigned seniors and one I would highly recommend to College Coaches.

[player_tooltip player_id='2361714' first='Jonathan' last='Perry'] (Christ Church) - Perry stepped up as a reliable scoring option in Christ Church's Upper State Championship loss. He was an important piece on last year's State Championship-winning team and will return as the #1 option next year. He put up a team-high 17 points with 3 3PM. Jonathan is a lefty who does a great job of getting penetration where he can finish around bodies or find open teammates. Perry also had an impactful defensive performance in Florence, adding 2 steals and a block.

[player_tooltip player_id='2430899' first='Khalid' last='Sherman'] (Loris) - Khalid was a very important piece for the Lions despite putting up only eight points in the Lower State Championship Game, including scoring or assisting on their first six points. It was a slow-paced, low-scoring game as the two teams adjusted to the Florence Center. Sherman added 3 steals and 2 assists, displaying a good feel for finding teammates as well as hard work on the defensive end. He has quick hands, can get up the floor in a hurry, and is a dependable free-throw shooter.
