Prep Hoops/Zaleski Sports Teams of the Week (Jan. 27-Feb. 1)

Each week during the high school season, Prep Hoops Wisconsin and Zaleski Sports will select boys' basketball teams of the week across the WIAA's five divisions. Here are this weeks honored squads:
DIVISION 1 ... HUDSON
Hudson ran its current winning to five on Saturday with a 58-42 non-conference victory over a solid Mahtomedi, Minn., squad. That triumph followed a Big Rivers Conference victory over Menomonie earlier in the week. Coach Brent Larson's guard-dominated squad is 11-6 overall and 7-2 in league play and has conference encounters with Chippewa Falls (Tuesday) and league-leading Eau Claire Memorial (Friday) this week. (6-3) have been key performers for the Raiders. Lessard tops the squad in scoring at 14.2 ppg followed closely by Mataczynski at 14.1 ppg and Swavely at 10.0 ppg. In the win over Menomonie, Hudson's big three paved the way with Mataczynski scoring 18 followed by Swavely with 13 and Lessard with 10. Seniors Aiden Jamieson (5-11) and Oscar Grothaus (6-0) also are strong contributors as they averaged 7.3 and 7.1 ppg, respectively. The Raiders are alone in second place in the Big Rivers, two games behind Eau Claire Memorial, and own impressive wins over West Salem, Rice Lake and Menomonie (twice), among others.
DIVISION 2 ... MONROE
The Cheesemakers won three games last week to run its season record to 10-6 under coach Brian Bassett. Monroe posted Rock Valley Conference wins over Evansville and Beloit Turner, and also recorded an impressive 71-52 victory over Southwest Wisconsin Activities League power Darlington. Junior forward Miles Versnik (6-4) led the way for Monroe in the win over Darlington by scoring 18 points. He got plenty of help from teammates

(6-0) is having a huge season for the Chargers and his two performances last week helped Wittenberg-Birnamwood to wins over Northland Pines by a 69-58 count and Shiocton by 64-62 in overtime. The Chargers have won seven games in a row heading into tonight's non-league matchup with Pacelli, and coach Garrett Rogowski's squad also hosts Weyauwega-Fremont on Tuesday and plays at Amherst on Friday this week.

had 32 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the win over Northland Pines, and the lead guard and son of the head coach also was outstanding against Shiocton, finishing with 26 points, four rebounds, six assists and three steals. Senior guard Jaden Clark (6-0) also had a big week as he scored 15 points and had seven rebounds against Northland Pines while also contributing 11 points against Shiocton. Junior guard Zandyr Barke (6-0) put in 19 big points in the narrow win over Shiocton.
DIVISION 4 ... RONCALLI
Roncalli remained undefeated in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference with an 83-36 triumph over New Holstein last Tuesday, and then the Jets swept past city-rival Manitowoc Lutheran 66-49 in a non-league game on Saturday. Roncalli is 13-1 overall and 9-0 in league play thanks to a balanced lineup that includes some size, some experience and a lot of skill. Sophomore

The Stasiek-Wolf combination was at it again on Tuesday when Spring Valley registered a 69-34 Dunn-St. Croix Conference win over Elmwood/Plum City as Stasiek had 24 point while Wolf pitched in 14 points and 14 rebounds. On Thursday, Spring Valley got another conference triumph, this time a 64-42 decision over Glenwood City. Stasiek had 21 points and nine rebounds to lead the way while Wolf added 13 points and 11 rebounds. Spring Valley finished its busy week with a 68-38 non-league win over Frederic on Saturday. The Cardinas have a pair of league games this week, squaring off against Colfax on Tuesday and hosting Mondovi on Friday.
