Expert Analysis
Mark Miller | Prep Hoops Scout
A four-year varsity performer who does a bit of everything on the court for the Jets, Cowley scored 19 points and did much of his damage in the paint by using his superior physical strength and superior jumping ability. Cowley can rip down rebounds, bring the ball down the floor, attack the basket or drive into the lane and find an open shooter on the perimeter. He is strong enough to guard multiple positions while having the ability to score at all three levels on the other end of the court.

Cowley is a scoring combination guard who can fill it up from deep, but also get to the basket with his size and strength while finishing through contact. He’s a bit of a streaky shooter, but once he sees the ball go through the basket, he can heat up in a hurry. Cowley scored 29 points to help Manitowoc United rally for a win over Low Taper Fade Elite on Sunday and was generally one of the top players in the entire 17U bracket due to his versatility in scoring and his consistent production. One area of Cowley’s game that stood out more than in the past was his help-side defense. Several times throughout the weekend, Cowley would leave his man and come over to block a shot from an opponent getting to the basket. His elevation off two feet was impressive for Manitowoc United .

After a rough first game of the club season against a stellar team from D1 Minnesota 3SSB at the Prep Hoops Midwest Showdown in Appleton, Cowley has turned things around and been outstanding for the Manitowoc United Black squad. His ability to score off the bounce with his slashing to the rim, coupled with his smooth perimeter jumper, make him a tough matchup for opponents. He has good size and strength for a combination guard, and he loves to get the ball and probe the defense, looking for scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. Cowley’s strong play has helped a solid Manitowoc United Black team to an 11-4 record in four events this spring.
