Prep Hoops Indiana Sectional Preview – Class 2A South

We are just a week away from the beginning of the 115th Annual IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament. On Sunday evening we received brackets for the Sectional round as 403 teams learned how their path to Gainbridge Fieldhouse would begin. We will spend the week here at Prep Hoops Indiana going in-depth across the state touching on all 64 Sectionals. Let's take a look at the eight Sectionals that make up the Class 2A South.   <a href="https://prephoops.com/2025/02/prep-hoops-indiana-sectional-preview-class-1a-north-2/">Class 1A North</a>   <a href="https://prephoops.com/2025/02/prep-hoops-indiana-sectional-preview-class-1a-south-2/">Class 1A South</a>   <a href="https://prephoops.com/2025/02/prep-hoops-indiana-sectional-preview-class-2a-north-2/">Class 2A North</a>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Brackets</h2>   Sectional 41 (Greencastle): Parke Heritage vs. North Putnam, South Putnam vs. South Vermillion, Greencastle vs. Winner Game 1, Southmon vs. Winner Game 2   Sectional 42 (Park Tudor): University vs. Covenant Christian, Park Tudor vs. Indianapolis Ritter, Monrovia vs. Winner Game 1, Indianapolis Riverside vs. Winner Game 2   Sectional 43 (Christel House): Heritage Christian vs. Triton Central, KIPP Indy Legacy vs. Irvington Prep, Eastern Hancock vs. Indianapolis Scecina, Christel House [14-9] vs. Winner Game 1   Sectional 44 (Hagerstown): Hagerstown vs. Northeastern, Union County vs. Centerville, Shenandoah vs. Winner Game 1, Winchester vs. Winner Game 2   Sectional 45 (Southwester-Hanover): Austin vs. Switzerland County, Brown County vs. South Ripley, Southwestern (Hanover) vs. Winner Game 1   Sectional 46 (Paoli): Salem vs. Mitchell, Paoli vs. Crawford County, Eastern (Pekin) vs. Clarksville, Providence vs. Winner Game 1   Sectional 47 (Eastern Greene): Eastern Greene vs. West Vigo, Sullivan vs. South Knox, North Knox vs. Winner Game 1, Linton vs. Winner Game 2   Sectional 48 (Tell City): Perry Central vs. Pike Central, North Posey vs. Tell City, South Spencer vs. Forest Park, Evansville Mater Dei vs Winner Game 3   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Toughest Sectional</h2>   Look, you could honesty make a case for each Sectional here in the south part of Class 2A, but I think when you look a pure balance, you have to go with Sectional 42 at Park Tudor. The easy answer would have been Sectional 45 with both South Ripley and Southwestern (Hanover) on a collision course, but Sectional 42 has a few teams in there can make a sneaky run in Class 2A. For starters, we have a very good matchup between both University and Covenant Christian, both who have 13 wins on the year, where the winner will face Monrovia in the semifinals. On the bottom side the bracket, there is an underrated matchup between Cardinal Ritter and Park Tudor with the winner facing a very good Riverside team. In total, University, Covenant Christian, Cardinal Ritter, and Riverside are the contenders, but you can't sleep on a Park Tudor team that could get hot at any moment. Whoever wins this one will earn it that is for sure.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Under-the-Radar Sectional</h2>   Like it was in the above category, this was yet another that was tough decide on. If we are sticking to the theme of this, it does not get more under-the-radar than Sectional 46 at Paoli. Combined of 7 teams, The contenders here are host Paoli and Providence, who received the single bye in this grouping. The dark horse team in this one are the Mitchell Bluejackets, who have their most wins in the season since 1999-2000. In the end, I do expect to see a very good showdown between Paoli and Providence in the championship game on Friday.
