Saturday, February 1st I attended the Grind Session at AZ Compass Prep. There were some high level high school games from teams around the country battling it out all weekend long.

Here were some of the local Forward Standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='2758833' first='Gamell' last='Holloway'] Taylor Made Prep (Pictured)

A long forward play both positons up front. He can catch and shoot from the three point line. He rebounds well in his area and can score on offensive rebound put backs or earn it on the free throw line. He will block shots in his area and moves well in space.

[player_tooltip player_id='1595013' first='Seraphin' last='Iradukunda'] Taylor Made Prep

A fluid power forward with some real size. He can score with the floater game, he has a nice mid-range fall away with high elevation and he will rebound the ball in his area plus block shots. He runs the floor and once he fills in, he will be tougher to contain.

[player_tooltip player_id='1384823' first='Jaden' last='Spears'] Phhoenix Prep Grind

An athletic and skilled wing forward with decent size. He can score with pull-ups from mid-range, hit the three off the catch, dunk it easily on the break and use the floater game to his advantage. He has nice body control in the lane to score and will pass it up the court for assists. He will defend multiple positions and will rebound and block shots. He scored 15+ points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1804624' first='Elijah' last='Hayeems'] Phhoenix Prep Grind

A bigger wing forward can score with euro steps down the lane with his left hand and he will use the floater game plus pull-up. He is a known three point shooter but he definitely can score it in different ways. He uses his left hand unusually well and rebounds at a high rate in his area. he scored 12+ points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1490241' first='Elijah' last='Summers-Livingston'] AZ Compass Prep Grind

A top notch athletic power forward flies on the break. He runs the floor like a deer and will leap up quickly to rebound or block shots. He will score rip thrus after a ball fake, he is very patient in the post and keeps adding some range to his shooting from mid to the three.

[player_tooltip player_id='1490283' first='Amare' last='Oba'] Skyline Prep

A transfer by way of Las Vegas is one of the more versatile wing forwards in the class. He can defend nearly every position in HS and he is a grab and go type to take a ball off the glass and then make a play. He passes the ball with either hand and up the court passes on a rope. He will score with offense rebound put backs, mid-range jumpers, spin moves to the basket with a deceptively quick first step.

[player_tooltip player_id='2550883' first='Christian' last='Taylor'] Skyline Prep

An active two-way wing forward. He scores getting downhill with his dominant left hand. He will defend multiple positions and rebounds the ball at a good clip. He is a better then average passer threading the needle for his position and brings some toughness.

[player_tooltip player_id='2759109' first='Christian' last='Saric'] Phhoenix Prep Grind

A newcomer for me is a point forward type who has good court vision and plays a cerebral brand of basketball. He will drive the lane to score but his feel and court vision are next level. He will often drive and kick straight into a shooting pocket.

[player_tooltip player_id='2278688' first='Precious' last='Sam'] AZ Compass Prep Grind

A sophomore post player is a massive kid with long arms, a strong base and frame. He is a a top of the food chain rebounder and runs the floor well. He will score layups around the basket and alter or block shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='1950100' first='London' last='Haskell'] Skyline Prep

A long and active power forward made the move to Skyline Prep from Mesa HS. He dunks the ball effortlessly as a quick leaper. His shooting is steadily improving with a nice looking free throw stroke and will rebound and block shots in and out of his area.
