About Elijah
Expert Analysis
Jay Frye | Prep Hoops Scout
Hayeems’ McDonald’s All-American nomination is driven by rare positional size at the point guard spot combined with functional skill. He consistently creates advantages by seeing over the defense, operating as both a primary playmaker and a scoring threat depending on game flow. His size allows him to absorb contact, finish through traffic, and make reads that smaller guards can’t. Defensively, he offers true versatility—able to switch, disrupt passing lanes, and guard multiple positions without sacrificing discipline. His blend of size, IQ, and adaptability is what separates him nationally.

is the type of player who can crack the code to the game in an instant. He’s the engine that makes the team go, as everything runs through him first. Each possession Hayeems attempts to beat the defense down the court never allowing them to set up properly. Defensively he stands out as a ball hawk constantly producing steals in the passing lanes through anticipation and quick reflexes. In the open floor, he shows full control of the game, running the break instinctively with an understanding of spacing as he attacks the middle of floor, never picks up his dribble early, doesn’t drift toward the sideline, and stays downhill keeping all options alive.

He’s a rising prospect in the 2025 class. He’s a long wing type prospect with improving skills. He’s a ball handler, brings it up often, a willing passer he sees the court. He put points on the board with solid drives into the paint, and a nice jump shot from mid-range, out past the 3pt line that went in often. He’s comfortable making his moves and shooting off the dribble. His 5-3’s led to 27pts.

He’s long, wiry and plays with a good amount of energy throughout the game on both ends. He has good hops to go get rebounds out of his space, he’ll attempt to use his length for blocks. He gets wide and is in transition, he’ll throw it down. He has an improving skill set, we need to see more of this prospect from the small school in the city.
