South Dakota 2028 Rankings: Prospect Evaluations

The South Dakota 2028 rankings posted yesterday and we put out a top 40. Let's dive into the class with some content and to get to know the prospects a little better. This is a random list of prospects that I wanted to mention and give updates on.    Cooper is acting as a true point guard and floor general with some offensive pop and playmaking, starting for Sioux Falls Christian's JV squad. I do like that Cooper is starting to feel more and more like a point guard and is developing in that aspect. If he wants to translate to his desireable level after high school, I believe it will need to be at the point. He's receiving ball screens consistently throughout games and he's under control and makes great decisions with the ball coming out of them. Doing a masterful job of finding shooters with clean, on-target passes. He's scoring by getting all the way to the hoop, or by getting to the middle for a pull away midrange shot. He's been excellent at breaking down his defender off the dribble.     Mwenentanda has the highest ceiling out of all the prospects, in my opinion. He already has next-level length, and a few years of growth should have him above that mark. Slightly raw yet, but his length and athleticism combination cannot go unnoticed. He's receiving some time on Sioux Falls Washington's Sophomore team, I did see.     I saw Zak live against West Central and the way he defended at the point of attack was impressive and suffocating for the ball-handler. He has long arms and quick feet, so he's allowed to get in your grill and make things difficult. He can pop the trey-ball and is already an offensive threat at the Class A level as a Freshman.     Lincoln might be the most game-ready prospect as it stands in current time, as he's producing at the AA level as an impact player. Would love to see Mcinerney grow taller, at least to 6'3”. If he has a nice bump up in height beyond that, he becomes a major prospect.     Walter has got longer and more athletic since a year ago. He propped up to 6'4” and can run and jump. He has some upside in him, because he can still develop his three-point shot. He's a varsity starter and difference-maker that just scored 28 points in a win over Bridgewater-Emery.     The true Big gets JV playing time, where he anchors himself in the paint to get deep post touches. He's a big and strong kid that translates it on the court as well. He's one that if he can grow taller, it will skyrocket his value. Would love to see him get to 6'8”-6'9”.     I saw Kutey take over a Freshman game in the 4th quarter at the President's Bowl. He's probably the most skilled with the ball out of the entire class. Elite handle, creator, and shot-maker. If he's taller, he's way up the rankings board.     I saw Liam online at the President's Bowl, and he was really impressive, playing as the main ball-handler and main offensive creator and weapon for Sioux Falls Roosevelt's Freshman team. He has a ton of offensive pop and can score and make shots all over the court. Elite handle and skill set.     Yellowhorse has really lengthened out and is now a long 6'2” guard with playmaking prowess all over the court. He's leaned out and he's moving well and is athletic. Saw him as a starter on the Freshman team vs Aberdeen Central.     Starting interior player for Lyman's varsity team. One of the most mobile Bigs in the class, Kieffer moves with suddenness and with elite lateral agility. Defends in the post at a high level with his ability to move and get to proper positioning.     Kudera is showing to be a major shooting and scoring threat for Yankton's Sophomore team. He's firing away accurate jumpers from all over the court. He's able to create space with his dribble moves and has no problem getting his shot off. His handle looks good and he's able to maneuver through traffic and bodies.     Mebius is a bulldog and competitor at the point guard position. He starts and leads O'Gorman's Freshman team. He brings intensity on both ends of the court. He's got a stout frame and plays with suddenness and muscle. Seems like he means business only on the court and is pressing the gas pedal full-go at all times. Very well-conditioned athlete that doesn't tire.
