Saguaro Holiday Classic: Under The Radar Prospects

On December 21st, I attended the Saguaro Holiday Classic in Scottsdale for the final Arizona team game of the night between Horizon High School out of Scottsdale and Desert Edge High School out of Goodyear. Here were the under-the-radar prospects that really stood out to me in this game.   Horizon led the game all the way through winning over Desert Edge with a final score of 72-40    Brennan is a straight-up gamer! A 3-point specialist with a quick release, he can score from beyond the arc in multiple ways with pull-ups in transition, step-backs, and catch-and-shoot. Brennan moves very well off the ball and can finish strong, absorbing contact with his frame. He led the way for Horizon, from start to finish. He was also an All-Tourney team recipient in the Saguaro Holiday Classic.     An athletic wing standing at 6'6 with a lanky frame. Owen showed the ability to knock down some 3 pointers off catch-and-shoot opportunities. He's a confident shot taker, a decent mid-range shooter, and has good finishing ability. He can guard multiple positions on the court with his size and showed the ability to contest shots at the rim.     Standing at 6'6, is another lanky athletic wing for Horizon who can do some of everything on the offensive end. He's a smart shot taker with the ability to hit from mid to long range. Ethan has a really good arc on his jump shot and attacks well in transition. He's a problem in the passing lanes with his length and reaction time, disrupting a lot of passes.       A 5'11 point guard, knows exactly where and when to get his teammates the ball. He showed some good shooting ability from beyond the arc and has a quick release on his jump shot. He can play both on and off the ball.     A 6'3 point guard in the class of 2028, can score the three-ball in multiple ways. He's not just a shot taker but also a shot maker. Mehki can create for himself on the perimeter with side steps and step-backs. He has also shown the ability to get downhill and use his floater effectively. A willing passer and a decent ball handler, he is sure to improve.     A combo guard who can play the positions 1-3 and defend them too. He plays well in transition and has a nice quick first step that helps him get downhill a lot. In the half-court set, he showed good ball-handling ability and can created his own shot on the perimeter. He also showed some shooting ability from range, and play making ability in the half court set.
