Prep Hoops Indiana Power Scores – Teams 1-10

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A couple of weeks ago Prep Hoops piloted a new feature at some of our top websites, including here in Indiana, as we always look for ways to innovate and bring you the best possible coverage of the game we all love. We will give a brief description of our new “Power Scores” feature and compare the computer rankings with some of the other most popular polls in the state.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">What are Power Scores?</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Power Scores are an algorithmically-generated team ranking system, accounting for the following information, in order of how much weight we assign to each metric:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>•&nbsp;<strong>Win percentage</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>•&nbsp;<strong>Point differential</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>•&nbsp;<strong>Opponent win percentage</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>•&nbsp;<strong>Strength of schedule</strong>&nbsp;(opponent and opponent's opponent win %)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>•&nbsp;<strong>Classification size</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>These rankings aim to provide a snapshot of the high school basketball landscape, updated every Sunday night for a refreshed view every Monday morning. Our scores and schedule have become a reliable source of timely information to follow the scene, and we're excited about how our Power Scores will continue to add value to basketball junkies on Prep Hoops. While no algorithm is perfect, our goal is to create meaningful visibility for teams and spark engaging discussions among fans.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Early in the season, the Power Scores are likely to favor teams that are undefeated or that have played a tougher schedule. There are likely to be surprises at first. They continue to rise in the Prep Hoops polls and the statewide polls, but this is the highest anyone has the Orioles currently.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>New Palestine is getting a lot of love from Class 3A as they sit all of the way up at #7 surrounded by some of the best 4A programs in the state.
