'27 Rankings Update: Stock-Risers & New Additions

As we have updated our rankings with movers and new adds, here is another article to break down the movement. Let's take a look at a few prospects who have made a jump in the rankings or those who have recently been added after our January update!    Jacoby is a bright young prospect out of Riverdale Baptist. He has games where he imposes his will inside and dominates offensively. He can attack the basket very well whether off a rebound/pass or driving by his defender for a layup. Finishes through contact and takes pride in taking the ball up strong. Jacoby has improved his outside touch and continues to work toward becoming a consistent 3-level threat. His rebounding and activity is what may stick out most while watching him play. He is always making cuts and grabbing rebounds off quick second-jumps. Always seems to be in the right spot offensively and runs the floor in transition very well at his size. Intriguing forward who seems to keep making strides up the 2027 ladder.     Nazir impressed our scouts over the summer and continued on during the season. Averaging about 13 points a night while defending tough matchups on the other end. Rosedale has played a number of high-caliber teams and Nazir has been at the forefront of Rosedale's valiant efforts. He's got a very reliable C&S 3pt shot and gets his shot off quickly over good closeouts. Nazir has no fear of attacking the basket and taking contact on his way to finishing the play. All heart defensively and gives nothing easy when he's tasked with the top offensive guards across the DMV. Gets a nice jump on the passing lane both in the backline of the zone and while playing up on the perimeter. I can see Nazir becoming one of the top 3&D guards in his area & class as he and the Panthers put the pieces together over the next couple years.     Toran has a unique skill at tracking down rebounds at his size at the forward spot. He's already tallied some big double-double numbers this season, coming off a recent 24p/11r performance in a win. Toran has nice touch when he's near the rim and can use his height and length to shoot over defenders in the paint. Flashes some perimeter ability offensively but is much more effective around the paint area. Toran has been gaining more and more respect around the area as a 2-way forward that will get the job done.     Ayden is emerging as a solid guard for the gritty Largo Lions squad. Can slither through the lane and finish at the cup past the outstretched arms. Still has room for improvement with his playmaking and decision-making but has made strides in that department this year. Ayden gives good effort defensively and stays on the ball well. He can catch-and-shoot the 3-ball when the defense is slow to recover. Ayden has no fear of getting into the paint amongst the bigs and getting up a layup. He's shown that he can finish well and has a few different tactics of evading the defense on his route to the layup. Ayden will continue to see his stock rise if he can continue to progress his game.     A big sweet-shooting forward that plays the game the right way. Played very well at the Capitol Hoops Challenge and showed he can compete well and contribute with a group of high-profile offensive players. His shooting touch is off-the-charts. The defense is making a mistake leaving him any space to C&S beyond the perimeter. Carmelo has nice size and mobility and holds his own down low or on the perimeter defensively. He can time some big blocks and really effect the game when given solid run. Makes smart plays with the ball and stars in his role as a floor-running stretch-big that can even drop down to the small forward spot to complete a big frontcourt.
