2028's Notable Newcomers in New England

Rankings coverage continues today with a look at New England's Notable Newcomers in the Class of 2028.   With the number of ranked prospects expanding from 75 to just over 175, there's no shortage of newcomers in this update.   Below, we'll take a look at 10 Notable Newcomers, prospects that are starting to make a name for themselves this winter.   Jacob Huckaby   Huckaby, a big wing at Hamden Hall Country Day, has already proven to be a capable shot maker from behind the arc. With good positional size and length, he has the ability to defend multiple positions while making an impact in the paint as a rebounder and rim protector.   [player_tooltip player_id='2560891' first='Chase' last='Dowling']   Dowling, a 6'4" wing at Pentucket Regional, uses his length to be an active defender and rebounder. He does a nice job of guarding in the post, using his length to wall up without fouling, while also proving to have a nose for the ball on the defensive glass.   [player_tooltip player_id='2716968' first='Christian' last='Ruel']   Ruel, a 5'11" guard at Bishop Feehan, has the ability to be an initiator or shot creator on the offensive end of the floor. Capable of playing on or off the ball, he does a nice job of changing speeds off the bounce to get into the paint where he can finish with either hand around the rim. He has a quick first step, good floor vision, and the ability to handle against pressure. He's also a capable scorer that can get it done at all three levels. He thrives on the defensive end of the floor where his length and quick first step allow him to guard the ball and also to protect the rim at a high level. He can score in the mid-range but is at his best when using his bounce to get into the paint and spray it out to shooters or find cutters with nifty passes. He's a good athlete that knows how to get to the rim off the bounce but has also shown the ability to knock down shots in catch and shoot situations. He's big enough to guard in the post, but also moves well enough to play on the perimeter, thriving as an off-ball defender that causes havoc in passing lanes. There might not be a more impressive prospect physically in this class in New England, he plays above the rim on both ends and is already a high level shot blocker. He shows 3-and-D potential with his ability to make catch and shoot threes while also making plays on and off the ball on defense.
