After unveiling a debut watch list in the last rankings cycle, we have identified 25 players who have caught our attention to form an initial top 25 in this most recent update to the 2028 class. Of course, there will be plenty of changes and updates as we continue to get to know this class but we are confident these five players will have the staying power to consistently remain among the top prospects in their class. Check out our top five prospects in this year's freshmen class.

Chea is a kid who already plays with confidence and poise beyond his years. He suits up for Elite Futures Prep and plays against some high-level prep prospects, but he's a kid who can run the point with some elite quickness and already shows the craft to maintain separation from defenders and attack space to get the offense in motion. He shows some promising scoring skills too, he can hit from three and has a finishing package around the rim that should continue to get better. He's also a kid who can defend at a high level, but it's his quickness and confidence that really stand out for the young guard.

Mosby is another young guard who plays a much more mature style of hoop than most freshmen. He's a kid who can shoot the lights out and has some extended range behind the arc, but he's also exhibited incredible vision and playmaking, making him a true dual-threat who can score or dish at any time. He processes the game at a high level too, showing he can not only get open, but get the ball in spots he wants to attack from and moves the defense with his motion. He's already a leader at Lakeside and has put up the big stat lines to back it up.

Lincoln has one of the youngest, most exciting teams in the state and Shareef-Dulaney is possibly the most exciting of the bunch. He's an electric three-level scorer who can spur runs and catch fire at any moment. He plays with a fire and has already shown he's ready to go toe-to-toe with some of the top players he's faced this season. He shows great instincts on both sides of the ball and is part of one of the top up-and-coming backcourt in the state. He's helped lead Lincoln to a 16-3 record so far.

Wright is a point guard who has shown some incredible feel for the game and has some of the most pure point guard instincts of any player in his class. He scores efficiently around the paint and can drop in shots from outside, but his strength is his intuition, his ability to control the game and defenses, get to his spots, and get everyone involved in scoring the ball. He's a smooth dribbler who plays at his own speed and should get a big boost in his role next season.

Birley already plays a key role at West Valley, running the point and providing some consistency as a third-option scoring the ball. He has some unique size as a point guard and has been an extremely poised player who doesn't often get sped up and is able to read the floor with defenders playing him tightly. He has also a smooth jumper and some real polish scoring the rock from the midrange and closer in. He should get a shot at playing on the big stage at the Tacoma Dome this year and should be a kid who soon becomes the face of this Rams team for years to come.
