Shilingsford showed leadership and nice poise in his first game of bracket play at the Xaverian Classic. He stepped into position and took some big charges, and also contested shot attempts well without fouling in the paint. Had a lot to do with the team's win over Good Counsel by being an anchor defensively, solid rebounder and paint presence. Made some key baskets under the rim and outside the perimeter to contribute to the win as well. Very impactful game 1 from the senior.

Izzy utilized his size and speed well to maneuver drives to the basket from the top of the key. he was effective when he could take the defensive rebound and beat the defense up the floor with his dribble. That created lanes for him to drive at times or kick-out to trailing shooters. Finished well near the rim when he concentrated on his shot. He can be a bit over-aggressive in hunting for his looks at times, but that should improve as he starts to read the floor more efficiently. Showed good feel although he is early in his development. Also flashed some nice but raw guard skills.

Mancho wasn't at the top of the box score in points, and saw his minutes shortened a bit due to the flow of the game, but he had a clear positive impact for Carmel. He controlled the paint on the defensive end, altering many attempts and sent some back. He was effective in the post when he made the quick decision to pass off the double team. He'll have to sure up his ability to pin the defender and make for a good post-entry target, but he has the size and vision to be more efficient out of the post as his season progresses.

Callahan showed some very nice game in his two bracket play matchups vs Jackson Reed and Good Counsel. He was deadly behind the 3pt line, hitting open shots from everywhere beyond. He was versatile in his offensive workload, making one dribble pull-ups, shooting over closeouts, and utilizing screens to finish underneath. He was very active moving around the floor, making it hard to contain him defensively while he could get into his shot right off the catch. Promising showing from the sophomore making noise at the Classic from New York.

Turner showed a few flashes of why he is the #2 shooting guard in his Maryland/DC 2027 class. He has nice size and he used it to his advantage when getting to his shots. Had a nice stepback jumper after a smooth size-up to freeze the defender. He dribbled through traffic well at times, maintaining enough control to get to a pull-up or layup. Didn't make a lot of his normal baskets, but he was able to get to his spots just the same. Has nice form and a high release that makes him a potent scorer when he's in rhythm.

This freshmen guard is another Tentley Tiger seeing some increased action due to the injuries. He made a nice impression coming off the bench for Newman, and played well alongside him in the backcourt at times. He broke into the second level of the defense with ease, with or without pressure. Made a number of great kick-outs, although only a few were converted into assists. Found shooters all over the perimeter in both J Reed bracket wins. Had a couple of nice finishes at the basket and pulled off some clean floaters. Liked the output from Amir.

Coolidge saw some very valuable minutes from their freshman forward [player_tooltip player_id='2722761' first='Malachi' last='Hooks']. He seemed to come away with the ball anytime he was in range. He outmuscled the other bigs on the floor many times for the ball. Pulled down big offensive rebounds that he converted into and-1 opportunities multiple times. Placed himself in open spots for his teammates to hit him easily for uncontested drop-off layups. Hooks is very strong with the ball, you won't take it from him and he will rarely fumble the rock from reaching guards.
