Top Seniors from Shane’s Week in Toledo

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This past week I went to three games in three nights for my first week of a month back covering the NWO Area. On Thursday I was at Perrysburg for their win over the NLL cross-division matchup of Southview, 73-66. Friday night I was at the biggest rivalry in the NWO area and CHSL match-up as Toledo St. Francis DeSales won 64-62 over St. John's Jesuit. Then last night I was at Toledo Christian as Emmanuel Christina got the road win 58-50. This kid is a straight-up hooper and one of the most underrated guards in the state. He scores at such a high level and has the physical strength that allows him to score from all three levels. He is a sniper from beyond the arc, but he now has added a truly effective game around the rim. He is a strong player who moves other guards out of his way in the post. He has a good back-to-the-basket game. He has good patience and footwork. The 4-year varsity point guard starter played just like you would need him to. When St. Francis started the game hot and jumped out on the Titans he was the one leading the scoring. He is a great leader by example and vocally. You can tell he is the heart of this St. Francis squad. He hits tough shots all night. When they did not have much going on most of the game, he was the one that kept them in it. He was the one player that was consistent all game with scoring. He is a quick guard with a good size that was tough to match up with for the Jackets. He got downhill and put pressure on the rim all night. No one could stay in front of him on Thursday. He came out the gates hot and was in a rhythm. He was getting buckets around the rim and midrange. He has a simple and efficient offensive bag. The impressive part about Young was when Southview started to focus on him more and stop him from shooting, he still impacted the game. He found an open teammate consistently and grabbed a lot of boards for a guard. He has a great feel and anticipation for the game. He would play spot minutes throughout the game and every time he was in, he made the most of his minutes and made huge plays. He hit a huge three to give SJJ the lead with a minute left in the game. He had multiple hustle plays throughout the game. He has a nice skill set for a guard who can do some of it all on offense. His size and build make him an effective slasher and finisher around the rim. He has a nice shot and can knock down threes easily. His defense is good as well. His slashing ability and scoring around the rim was huge for St. Francis to pull out the win at home. He is a shorter guard but a great athlete. He has a quick first step and drives to the rim often. He played with a high energy and passion. He is a big, strong, tough, and physical kid who uses these attributes all to his advantage. He did a good job of putting the other forwards for the Jackets in foul trouble because he would attack their chest when attacking the rim. He had a presence in the paint because he was getting rebounds and would either get points or to the free-throw line.
