Heck really knows how to play and does a good job playing within himself. He took what the defense gave him. I really like how Heck used fakes to catch biting defenders. He showed that he was a threat from behind the arc with four threes. Heck was able to get to the foul line. He found ways to get others the rock.

Heck is a player you just knew was going to play well in this big-time rivalry game. The 4-year varsity point guard starter played just like you would need him to. When St. Francis started the game hot and jumped out on the Titans he was the one leading the scoring. He is a great leader by example and vocally. You can tell he is the heart of this St. Francis squad. He hits tough shots all night. He got back into the game late in the 4th with two massive plays – a deep three to give the Knights the lead and then the game-winning steal and assist.

Heck is someone that always impresses at this event and I expect his senior year showing won’t be different. He is just a really good basketball player. He can do what you ask of him. He shoots the ball extremely well from all levels. He elevates nicely and high on his pull-ups and midrange. He knocks down shots if he is ever left open. He does a good job of distributing to teammates but also being aggressive. He also has an extremely high motor. Fun player to watch.

Heck is a very consistent player and you know what you are going to get out of him. A tough and smart kid who will play hard. He was picking the ball up full court consistently all night. He was in attack mode all game long against Central Catholic. He was getting to the rim and was knocking down shots. He makes some very contested shots, but with his height, he is used to it. He battled foul trouble but came up big late when the Knights needed him.

Heck someone when I created the teams kind of forgot about how good he was. He truly is an exceptionally skilled guard. He makes the right decision every time down the court. No one I trust more with their ball in their hands. He is a smaller player in height but he has some really good athleticism. Super quick player. He may have been the player who played the hardest in the entire event. He has a high-arching shot that is nothing but net. He had it going from the first game and continued it all day. He made some very impressive basketball plays. Did all the little things to extraordinary.

Heck is a player who is going into his third year of starting varsity for St. Francis as a point guard. That is not an easy task, but he has handled it better than most anyone else would as he has been their best player for those years. He is a smaller guard, but it does not show how he plays. He has a great understanding of coring for his size. His ability to use his pivot foot to create space for his shot is the best I’ve seen as a scout for PrepHoops. He is super patient when attacking to score. Heck does a great job of acrobatic finishes. He has a good jumper but doesn’t rely on it. Heck is a great leader too. Communicates a ton, plays with high energy, and gives 100% every play. He impressed me last year at this event, and I expect the same this year.

A competitive battle between Toledo St Francis and Willard went down to the wire but Knights guards Elvis Syroka Elvis Syroka 5'9" | PG Toledo St. Francis | 2024 OH and Heck made enough winning plays to hold on for the victory. Despite being the smallest player on the floor, Heck had a couple offensive rebounds and dove for loose balls as well. Combine that with his shot-making from the outside and ability to drive and dish to open teammates and it’s easy to see why Heck was so valuable in the victory.

If you consistently read my articles then you know outside of his family and coaches I might be this kid’s biggest fan. He is one of St. Francis’s bright spots this year. He came in last year as a freshman and was instantly a starter and the leader of the team. He is a very good leader by example but I think with one more year of experience and confidence he will start leading vocally more. He is very comfortable with the offense and the pace of varsity basketball. He now has the experience of going down to Lima and Findlay and playing in hostile environments. Teams will know they have to stop him and make others beat them but all I say to those teams is good luck.
