JV basketball began on Friday and I was able to catch a few games at the Rattler's Turkey Tipoff, hosted by Mojave. There were a few players who really stood out, and each of them made impacts on both offense and defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2675730' first='Isaiah' last='Anderson'] made some impressive defensive plays at the Rattler's Turkey Tipoff. He read the offense like a defensive back and made multiple steals while Cimarron was trying to move the ball up the court. After his steals, he was able to carve through the defense and scored on a few lay-ups.

Anderson got Arbor View's offense early in the game. He connected on a couple of shots and also facilitated a few looks for his teammates. On the defensive end, I noticed him applying good ball pressure and playing with active hands. While it was my first time watching him, I think he'll be one of the Aggies better JV players this season.

Trotter is a solid prospect due to his height and frame. He also knows how to leverage his size to collect rebounds. Trotter scored some easy buckets as well, as defenders had a difficult time disrupting his shots. If he can keep working on his offensive game, he could be a much improved player by the end of the season.

Newsome was all over the boards against Arbor View. He grabbed one rebound after another. I also noticed him using some good footwork in the paint on offense. Which led to some easy buckets for him. He wasn't on my radar before, but I believe he's another freshman that shows some promise.

Musa played well in the guard spot on Friday. He has some decent ball-handling skills and wasn't very phased by the defensive pressure they through at him. On multiple occasions he was able to drive to rack and made some tough finishes. I also like how he uses his athleticism on defense to create turnovers.
