The class of 2027 rankings was released Thursday of last week. In the midst of the rankings being listed, there was an addition of 15-plus names added to the list. While there were new additions and movement within the rankings, the top ten did not change much. While there was not much change, Louisiana has one of the more impressive top ten classes. In this rankings review, we will look at the athletes that make up the class of 2027 top ten.

Jamison is the top rated point guard in the class by Prep Hoops and other services. He has played like it beginning this season. Jamison has taken the lead guard reins and has learned to orchestrate on the floor. T.J. (as he is known as) looks for his shot second and knows how to find shooters within the offense. Getting to his spots is a gift he is excellent at getting to them. Jamison is the top player in this class and has played like it thus far.

The number two rated player is also the best tight end in his class. Hudson is a week removed from playing for a state championship in football. He immediately stepped on the hardwood and made a difference. Hudson can finish in transition, defend the paint and perimeter, and post on the block. He is a two way freak or nature. Wait until he actually gets in basketball shape........

The state's top 2027 QB is also a top small forward as well. Haven is only a week removed from the gridiron as well. While he has not gotten a chance to make his mark on the hardwood, it won't take him long. Haven is a three level scorer who can also defend multiple positions. He is a high level player and gives Dunham a chance to play for another state title in March.

Naquin is a double double waiting to happen when he steps on the floor. He is a multi-level scorer who can score in various ways. Triston is a talent that you can run or set for or he will go get it off the glass. His ability to be a threat in multiple areas and rebound on both ends makes him tough to defend. Naquin is an integral part of the AB Shaw offense and is a player to watch in this class.

Davis is the best two way player in the class. He is an elite offensive talent who is a disruptor on defense. Davis knows how to take turnovers from one end and finish on the other. Markez also knows how to facilitate and score within an offense. His ability to play both ends of the floor makes him a high level dual threat. That will also make Northwest a team to watch all season.

There is no prep that can score the ball better than Garner. He is an offensive threat who can score at all three levels and from multiple points at each level. Garner is very good at penetrating and finishing. Couple that with his ability to spot up from behind the arc, Garner is player defenses can't lose. Madison Prep is always a good team. They have a player that is almost impossible to defend in Garner.

The Country Day off guard has the game to become a top five player in this class. Brewer has the offensive tools to take players off the dribble or to post them up. He can score from the perimeter and hurt teams that way. Brewer also has a will to win that makes him unguardable at times. His ability to play inside and outside makes him a tough player to guard.

Kimmie is a live wire act and a rim-rocker. His finishing ability in the open floor is the best we have in this class. Ethan is a high level defender and can guard all give positions on the floor. His defense allows University many of their transition opportunities. Kimmie is also a high level rebounder on both ends. Rebounding and finishing in transition makes him the player that he is.

Parker is evolving into a better combo guard. This summer, Peyton showed progression into becoming a more complete combo guard. We all know that he can shoot the ball at a high level. His passing has continued to improve. Finding teammates in scoring areas helped him grow this summer and continues his improvement. Parker also rebounds well for a guard which continues his growth as a player. Huntington will truly benefit from his growth.

Chewning is a high IQ wing who can get his offense from multiple places on the floor. He can score from the mid-range, in transition, or from spotting up. Jackson can also rebound and do the other things to help the team win. Chewning does not have to dominate the ball to be effective which helps his team's success. For a top player, that is a great trait. Look for him to improve in his scoring and make French Settlement a top team to beat.
